Default My Local Dealer made a Small Mistake - again lol...

Here we go again...

This may not be of interest to you, because I am in England, but it may help you to see that car dealers are the same the world over - some are good and some (like my local one) are c0cks.

So, here we go...

The 370Z's arrived in UK car showrooms a few days ago, so last Saturday I went into GLYN HOPKINS NISSAN, ST. ALBANS branch - YES GLYN HOPKINS NISSAN, ST. ALBANS branch, and booked a test drive for today, 4pm.

I got off work a bit early arrived at 4pm to be told that the sales manager (aka tw*t) had said "No" to the test drive, because it would mean there would be no 370Z in the showroom!!! He'd told the sales guy to rearrange it for another day!!! Well, you may be able to imagine my very restrained response - I should have told him to stick it somewhere. As it is, I'm complaining to GLYN HOPKIN (it was their St Albans branch that shafted me). My god, the car would only have been out of the showroom for 40 minutes maximum - and I'm a Z-obsessed fool who might have bought it! I told the poor sales guy to tell his sales manager to re-assess his priorities and I walked out.

I'll arrange a test drive with my mate in Cambridge for a week or two's time. Do you know, I'd even taken my camera into the showroom to take as many pics as I could - I left without taking any. And I've had no phone call from the sales manager, even though he knows I'm about to complain. What a bunch of t****ers - This is the 3rd time they've upset me - and the last!

phew - got that off my chest! - and he just lost a sale

Does YOUR dealer ever make mistakes?

The first dealer I went to had the exact car I wanted on the lot and I took it for a test drive. I was done...wanted it that night. During the negotiation process, he actually said "Give me a break with the price haggling...you're a DOCTOR!". I left and went to another dealer 2 miles away. They didn't have the car I wanted, so they made the first dealer send the car I test drove over and I left with it that day . I'm still contemplating going back to the first dealer who originally had the car and asking them if anything looked familiar.

THAT was a fail on the dealer's part. why turn a customer away and an opportunity to make a sale?

I'm sorry to hear about your crappy experience(s)...that sucks!

I've been very fortunate so far. My dealer has rocked. I was able to negotiate the price I wanted via e-mail and the whole process went smoothly and without any BS or surprises.

they didnt see you as a potential buyer.

I had the same issue because I still have a little acne, even though im 25 years old, and when they saw me, they asked me to come back on a "slow" day so that they dont lose any sales dealing with me.

I had the first dealer tell me no to a test drive as well, I went to another dealer and wrote a check for a car that night.

I'm 20 years old.

[/story]

Nobody takes me seriously when I go into a showroom. Not even at Honda dealerships. I went to at least 15 Nissan dealerships.

I've been told 1. "Where's mommy and daddy?" 2. "Which bank did you rob to afford this car?" 3. "Sorry, I must have mistaken you for someone important." 4. "I'm sorry, are you lost? This is a Nissan dealership and this is a 370z you're sitting in."

Well, long story short, I bought my 370z from the first and only dealership to even spare me an hour of their precious time.

Dealers generally stereotype based on appearance. Now this may or may not have been the case here but it is true. What is it?... they look first at either the watch or the shoes.. I forget.

Anyway. My dealer was hella cool. They had a GTR sitting in the showroom with velvet ropes around it and offered to have me test drive it. I declined but they did offer!

Anyway, take your business somewhere else.

Oh yeah... I almost forgot. Make SURE when you purchase your Z from the other dealer, you drive right on over there and talk to that sales manager or whover blew you off and jingle the keys in his face and say "big mistake". Then casually stroll out, hop in your Z, turn off the VDC and lay some rubber out of there.
