Would the crystallized crap work? That's the only kind I have, and I'd be afraid the rear tires will shoot the crap all over the panels causing chips.

Yeah, it's the brine and saline that would melt the ice and give traction. (if you had enough, even table salt can tackle that.)

If you have a manual, take off in 2nd, not 1st. If auto, I expect a D1 option is avail?!(not sure)

I had the same issue with mine at times. Could put something under the tires but when I was impatient I just swung the rear to where there was blacktop (like the left of the pic). Worked every time. That slope still doesnt seem steep enough where you shouldnt be able to do a 2nd gear start and creep in the garage anyways.

I was able to get the car on the left side of the picture, lots of black ice you can't see from the picture though. I was feathering the clutch with lots of care in first gear, barely even giving any gas, maybe starting it out in 2nd might help a little.

Really? I went to SIU Carbondale for 2 years, actually just graduated this past year. God how much I miss those roads, Giant City, Spillway, ect. Nice area, hope to take the Z down there since I haven't owned it during the time I was down there. I'd love to carve some Giant City corners with the Z. I had to make due with my Sentra Spec-V at the time, tons of fun still though. They did have a few ice storms while I was down there, I know their known for that lol. What city were you in?

Congrats on graduation! Giant City is nice in the summer/fall. I grew up north of Scott AFB outside Belleville (long boring straight, but smooth) farm roads....and corn! Corn everywhere! I used to take a weekend here and there and jump across the river to carve up the foothills of the Ozarks in my old '96 CBR.

Thanks man! The Ozarks has to be crazy fun on a bike. I always thought to myself while carving up the Giant City corners, "man, one mess up on a bike and you're off that cliff and dead". That's mostly why I decided to save my need for speed on the bike for the track! Riding on the street is just so dangerous with too many variables outside your control. I still do street riding with the Ducati, but that's mostly for the posing factor :happydance:

find a few people, push it in...

LiquidCrewZ 01-26-2013 11:22 PM

That sucks, I have lived in ohio for most of my life. Winter weather is awesome. Cat litter or deicer and wait it out. Or you could just floor it and slam on your brakes before you hit the garage wall haha. GL

bmarcinczyk14 01-26-2013 11:27 PM

Thanks guys, I was able to get it in. VDC off, and problem solved. It kept cutting power anytime it detected wheel slip, wouldn't allow me to get enough spin from the tires to move anywhere.

SgtGoldy 01-26-2013 11:29 PM

^The ol' VDC getting in the way again. Glad you got her into the garage before another storm
