Hey Staggard353 was the display visible during the day at full bright??? I have 35 tints on my back 5 windows to help keep it a bit darker inside,

I looked at the homelink radar mirrors! 2200 bucks. Whew! I'd rather just keep it on the dash.

I plan to crack open the mirror over the next few days, but only if you think it will be a workable display!

Thanks for your input.

You can see it through the mirror during the day... At full bright...vaguely... I was satisfied but not truly happy... You don't have to buy the whole mirror... You send him yours and the display and he sends it back... Like 400.. I just did that because everywhere around here wanted like 350+ to etch the mirror and they couldn't guarantee a positive result since it would their first time doing something like that... For this radar... I thought the price was worth it...

I have a V1 and never leave home without it. It has saved my butt many, many times. For the money, IMO it can not be beat. Yes, it is expensive, but for what you get, it's worth every penny.

As others have mentioned, I do tend to drive more conservatively with it, which is a good thing. But when I want to step on it, it's good to know it has my back.

I will be buying another one for my wife's Van. She has a heavy foot, but doesn't realize it.

I've pretty much decided to go with the V1 for my birthday. March 28 can't get here quick enough!

Has anyone tried mounting it above the rear view mirror? It looks like it would fit, not sure if the black dot matrix affects the signal though.

Heard the Passport 9500xi was good because of the GPS system. It stores all the false alarms and they wont go off once they are identified as "false." Valentine 1 (V1) has direction arrows on the radar detector to tell you where the signal is. Research and pick which one you like. Don't get a Cobra, biggest piece of poop and waste of money.

the 9500xi is a stand alone dash mount and no laser shifters.
K, Ka, X, POP, LASER, GPS

The 9500ci is a full stealth install with laser shifters. (requires a pretty involved custom install)
K, Ka, X, POP, LASER, GPS + LASER SHIFTERS

I have both (xi on my truck, ci on my Z) both are good, the ci is waaaay more fun!

xi 400 bucks
ci 2000 bucks installed

The Beltronics work awesome. I have one in my 4Runner and Z. Couldn't drive without one. I've been using one for 8 years with zero tickets. They do work!

Also if anyone is interested in an Escort radar system.. They do in house financing...no credit checks... Directly off your debit card... For example.. If you wanted a 9500ci like I did.. I paid 555 up front (including next day shipping) and 100 a month gets debited off my card on the 16th every month till its paid for( or whatever day you choose) check out all the different ones at www.escortradar.com

I just flew by a Colorado popo and his laser pistol. Shifters shifted. Driver downshifted. Goodbye popo buck Rogers. Better luck next time

I had radar in my car from 1982-2006 starting with the original passport. I had a V1 from 1996-2006. Two things made me sell it. The first is the same as above. My driving habits changed and I just found I very rarely dove more than 8-10 over and if I stick to that rule I can go right through obvious traps and the police just don't care.
The second reason I sold my V1 was the constant false alarms. I got to where I would just ignore the damn thing and ride right through traps. But since I was only doing 8 over - the cops ignored me.
I didn't get a speeding ticket in my Talon TSI, Volvo C70, BMW 540, Z4 3.0is, or TL 6MT. Then I put a Stillen supercharger in my 2013Z and the damn thing is just so much damn fun I got two tickets in 3 weeks.

So I decided to get a new detector. I went with the Escort 9500ix because of its autolearn ability to simply ignore stationary radar - so fewer false alarms.
It works, I like it, I feel protected. I will probably keep it until 395whp seems old hat.

You should slow down and kill the jammers quickly. That way you don't draw any extra attention to the jammer community.

Most cops think jammers don't work, and we want to keep it that way so they don't put effort into defeating them.

Jammers can be defeated when you use the right equipment and techniques.

Stealth is our friend.

The 9500ix does a great job for me.
