Not true, I've defeated laser many times both from ground police and aircraft. It's the simplest thing to do, just lift off the gas pedal as quickly as possible. My wife was informed of this simple tactic by a friend of hers that is a police officer. The laser has to "latch" in a speed. It's quick but not instant. If you go out of gear, shift gears, or brake that short period of time that your speed is constant it will latch in that speed. For some reason just lifting off the gas pedal has kept me from getting a ticket.

It depends on where you live in.

If your area is where the police often use K or X bands, then the 9500ix would not be a good choice for many of its false alarms resulting from the other car's collision avoidance systems. In that case, newer versions of Max series should be better with their advanced filters.
