Depending on how the cams are set up, they can send you a ticket for coming to a dead stop past the white line. Or making a right on red without coming to a complete stop etc. The big one is stopping past the whit line so you can see to make a right turn. If they only write tickes for people who blow through red lights, they will probably go broke. |

I went through an intersection in a nearby town once on yellow because it was wet/light was short/person on my arse, and SWEAR I saw a flash, so I googled the town and saw that there were red light cameras and a LOT of people complaining about BS tickets like you mentioned above. Since the fine for the ticket is $75 maximum (it cannot increase above this regardless of period of delinquency), and no warrant will be issued, and my DL address is not where I live anymore...I don't give a damn. |

I know in Houston, before they were removed, we had a 3rd party human factor put into place for those reasons.
Right on red - thrown out Stopping - thrown out Basically it was because the lights were so sensitive to any movement and people complained so much we hired a firm to put in a human check. It worked and people stopped complaining.

To me, if you know your area fairly well and know where the cops like to hide, it's not necessary to have one. If you take long trips via the highway across the state, it can be quite beneficial; as it has saved my rear a few times!

I take the same way home every day. For the first time in a year of driving home this way at 0800, I saw a state trooper where there had been none before. Cops may not all be shining examples of blazing intellect, but even a backassward hillbilly knows how to hunt a deer, and setting up to hunt motorists isn't much different. Sometimes you move the deer stand. |

The Redline's slow reaction time is pretty well-known.
Here is a great place to do some research: Radar Detector Jammer Forum |

Radar Detector Reaction Time Test - Escort Radar Forum In short, every detector has a weak/strong point and they are all about the same if you average it all out (among high-end stuff, not whistler or RMR crap). The V1 has arrows, though, and that tipped the scale for me. WHERE the cop is is definitely very valuable info. |
