There is a use for this sort of thing... I pull air from this location to feed a rear diff cooler. Ideally, I'd run naca-style ducts which are more efficient, but I had a fabricator that wanted to do something with more 'profile'. Air pulled from this location can also used to circulate air back to driver in hot weather and cool rear brakes

Having said that, these look like a*s

Those "things" remind me of those freaking AWFUL roof scoops that's on the cars in The Fast And The Furious movies.
