Default Mirror Paint Damage

Hi guys,

A guy left his door open while he was unloading groceries, the wind caught it and t smacked it into my passenger side mirror (see picture). I'm not sure how else to fix it other than apply the factory touch up paint that I've used for rock chips. Any other suggestions that might look better than that? I know I could take it to a bodyshop/detailer but I'm afraid that's probably cost prohibitive.

Thanks in advance!

I've had much better luck using Dr. Color Chip than with the OEM touch up paint. May want to give that a try.

Should have got the guys insurance & have him pay for it. . But yes, DR. chip would be the way to go. Factory touch up will just make a mess.

Ouch! People are so careless!!! I had a women in an Audi open her door and let the wind catch it and bam the door hit my bumper. Luckly I guess because the bumper is flexible plastic I did not get a scratch, my girlfriend had to run over and calm me down cause I was screaming at the women. Good luck with the fix man.

Have it professionally fixed because MB is also a three stage paint job that is pretty hard to match. If you DIY a big gash like that, chances are you won't get it to look great unless you're a pro. Have it fixed right the first time.

Another option is to wrap the darn thing for now. Black and MB looks nice.

touch up paint is a good choice unless you want to put those cf covers over it.

get touch up paint and then you have to get a clear coat sealer or spray on clear coat then mask off the undamaged areas and apply the clear coat

Yea, don't feel bad. My wife pulled my car into the garage that has shelves in it. Too close on the passenger side and cut a strip of paint off all the way down to the plastic. Touch up paint won't fix that. Its about a 2" gash that cut plastic

Touch up paint + Langka. Just shake the crap out of the touch up before you start, and then stop & shake it about every minute. Do thin layers until you're just above it and then use Langka. And if it doesn't look good, you can use the Langka to pull it all out & start over. Langka says that it only works after a few minutes, but I've used it up to 2 days later to remove overfill. It actually works a little better to get most of it within the first couple of hours and then fine tune it the next day.

touch up will look like ****.

Either get it repainted, plastidip it correctly, or may i suggest

carbon fiber mirror covers if you like the look or black contrast.

for that you will need some BOG(plastic filler iirc), primer, a rattle can with car color or color of choice(or plastidip), and a clear coat(or plastidip glossifier if you go with the plastidip route)
