Nissan Confirms Baby 370Z is Coming Soon
Well everyone, love or hate it, the truth has been revealed.
"According to a report from Auto Motor Blog, Nissan's vice president, Andy Palmer, admitted that his company is currently hard at work on a new sports car that will slot below the 370Z, but not replace it outright." Nissan Confirms Baby 370Z is Coming For those who are lazy.... "Nissan is gearing up to go head-to-head with the Toyabaru triplets with a small sports car of its own. About six months ago there were rumors regarding a possible "Mini-Z," a lighter and cheaper Nissan sports car than the 370Z. With all of the success surrounding the Toyabaru triplets (GT86, FR-S and BRZ), several automakers have supposedly expressed interest in building a competitor. For Nissan the debate last summer was whether to downsize its next-generation 370Z or go with something even smaller. That question has apparently now been answered. According to a report from Auto Motor Blog, Nissan's vice president, Andy Palmer, admitted that his company is currently hard at work on a new sports car that will slot below the 370Z, but not replace it outright. What's interesting is that we could very well be seeing it appear in concept form within a year. The question that still remains is what platform it'll be based on. Chances are the Juke's platform will serve as the donor because this way Nissan can keep development costs down as well as the production car's price tag. The only problem with this theory is that the Juke is front-wheel-drive with optional all-wheel-drive. Palmer did say that this car will be designed as a "love or hate" product, so the absence of rear-wheel-drive could be what he's referring to. Styling wise, we're looking at the Esflow concept as a possible inspiration, but nothing is for certain just yet." |
Bring back the Silvia :icon14:
We already have an FWD car... the Sentra. |
Weak. That should be an updated Nissan Sentra R to compete with the Frs, Brz not a baby Z.
|
And what’s the deal with a GT86 isn't that a Frs? From what I see that baby 370z is a Esflow that looks like soiled baby diaper.
|
FWD will be an instant death, no question ask.
I hope the love or hate thing comes in terms of style ques or maybe transmission (CVT?). |
I was just going to thread this...
Well this confirms the multiple Z engines for the Z. It also comfirms that the upper end Z will go further upmarket. The next gen Z may start @ 40k+ while the smaller Z starts @ 28k-32k. What i hope. The smaller Z produces equal hp as our current Z in a 4cyl turbo engine The upscale Z gets at least 400hp on a 3,000lb chassis. Considering the Q50 has a 3.5litre hybrid engine. I'm hoping the Z gets the mercedes 3.5 turbo engine with the hybrid motor attached in order to compensate for the needed 400hp. If they can do all of that on the 3.5 on a 3000-3100lb chassis, that'll do major justice. LETS HOPE Nissan isn't that fvckin' vstupid to make an FWD version of a Z and expect it to compete against a FRS. That would be highly idiotic. |
How about a Mini GTR! That be awesome
|
so kinda like a juke then? (love or hate)

And if they are gonna keep it FWD, they should just make a Sentra R Coupe. Just my :twocents: haha! |
Wait so there's gonna be 2 new z"s or just a new mini z
|
I hope it looks nothing like that concept car :barf:
|
making a fwd to compete with the frs will be bankrupt for Nissan.
|
I seriously doubt FWD is a consideration. AWD/CVT... possibly. I wouldn't be surprised about them using the MR16DDT engine mated to a ~2800lb vehicle built on the Juke chassis. With the boost turned up a bit, hopefully you could see some performance numbers that would make a smaller vehicle scoot along.
I personally hope they pull the engine from Mercedes. It's about time that partnership bared some fruit on the sports car front. |

It probably won't stray to far from the current Z. I see Audi style lights, a more arero front grille, extra lithe on the hood, slightly shortened back, deeper trunk, shorter rear, rear bulges will remain with slight more drama to them. The future Z probably won't be as thick as our cars from top too bottom,(lithe, again), dramatic hoodlines and maybe sunroof or targa this time around? |
