Default Spoil or Not To Spoil? That is the Question!

Although I love the looks of my '09 CY Touring Z Coupe, it does not have the rear spoiler. Correct me if I'm wrong (gee did I have to ask...ha ha) but doesn't the rear spoiler only come with the Sports Package which mine does not have? I would love to have the spoiler installed but I'm debating whether this would go against how the car came stock and I'm a stickler about keeping my Z stock. So the question is....how many of you would have it installed?

If you want to keep it stock then don't add anything to it? The sports package came with a small spoiler which can be purchased from nissan separately. I really don't understand what you mean by "go against how the car came stock". If you add something to your car, that part is no longer stock. A sports package spoiler is not a stock part for a base Z, but because the hatch is the same for all versions the sports package spoiler (as well as the nismo spoiler) can be added at your expense (purchase, painting, drilling/installing).

Hope that covers any and all possible original queries.

First of all, it's the Touring model not Base. I know what you mean and you're right, it won't be stock anymore. So would you add the spoiler if you were me?

The spoiler also comes as a dealer installed option so lots of non-sport Z's have it. So to me if you add it you would still be stock.

i have the stock spoiler if you need it, i went with an aerojacket type III carbon fiber now

hard to tell from the pic but it has more of a flip on the end providing more downforce

Considering it would be referred to as a "stock spoiler" I don't think it'd make your car "not stock"

I would get it!

Going by what I've heard cough an '09 Touring still feels well-planted at 100. Unless you like the look, I'd say no. YMMV

the reason why i put one larger on was the back end gets VERY light when hitting bumps while cornering at high speed (on the track) the stock spoiler is ok but a larger one stabilized it even more.

I'm actually planning to remove mine eventually so it's all personal preference. I think the lines are much cleaner without the spoiler and I'm not sure how much downforce that little bit of lip actually adds.

That said once i get all of my mods together I'm probably going to get a gt wing for the track so it's all up to you.

That is bump steer and you would be better served to fix the problem through suspension tuning rather than masking it with downforce.

I'm assuming, since this is in the general section and the way the question was asked, that it's a DD and won't get much over the speed limit for very long. I've been wrong before.
