Please help me I'm new to the car world.

A while back, I was looking through a car catalog and there was a section that said "Cars 50k and under" and I found the Nismo 370Z. I want to learn everything about this car and found this forum. Perfect. So here's my first question: What is the difference between Nismo 370Z and just a regular 370Z?

Lets be real here

A Nismo is a Sport package 370Z with a body kit (different wheels) and a bit of tinsel (chassis dampeners)

Now... It has an extra 18hp... If you plan on changing your intake/exhaust, which you will... You'll gain MUCH more than 18hp to the WHEELS

In my opinion, unless that look is what you yearn and die for... Save your money...

Well, you nailed it, I am going for that sport look. The 370Z seems too feminine for me (no offense, just not my type). Is there a way to get an amuse (nismo) body kit on a normal 370Z?

It only has a Bose if you get the premium package
And the bigger brakes are on the Sport package too? So I didn't mention that

It has a back breaking suspension, lol (I don't think it's bad, but worse than my Touring)
And you also get "Nismo" stitched into your seats! YAY!!! Lol

Amuse and Nismo aren't the same...

If you want an Amuse kit, buy an Amuse kit, don't be stupid and buy a Nismo and put an Amuse kit on it, lol

:iagree: Neat look but performance first for me, looks second.

SPOHN 01-15-2013 10:26 AM

Overall performance is in the driver.

HArturo319 01-16-2013 02:14 AM

oh my goodness.

The older crowd tends to enjoy the NISMO's. I'm done modding... for now. I wanted my car off the lot breaking necks now, not later.

ImportConvert 01-16-2013 05:10 AM

Does the Nismo feel better in the corners, etc? My 370 Sport always pushed. A bit of suspension change might fix that, so I am wondering if the NISMO is nicer.

Also the extra 18 hp is compensating for the extra weight and over-sized wheel/tire(grip) pkg of the Nismo.

kenchan 01-16-2013 02:08 PM

i think base sportpackage + nismo wheels is THE way to go.

kenchan 01-16-2013 02:50 PM

Just be warned that an authentic Amuse kit runs north of $5k after paint and installation.

Also plenty of other kits around to choose from. The Amuse kit looks great, but with a lot of knock-offs, there's too many around. (website may not display correctly in Internet Explorer, try Safari or Google Chrome)

stiffer swaybar, different springs, and dampers and wheels and tires. that's quite different.

Dwight Frye 01-16-2013 05:41 PM

The Nismo has some performance advantages but for a daily driver they make little or no difference. I do find them to be hideously ugly and they scream Boy Racer/Fast & Furious wannabe driver inside. How old are you OP ?

Zenmaster 01-16-2013 06:07 PM

I hear Priuses are nice

HArturo319 01-16-2013 06:44 PM

This always turns into a heated debate about trim. It's true, I could have saved a few $k in many different ways, like paying for base, or for older model, but I'm content with my car and in the end that's what matters. I've had two Zs in the past and I always wanted the NISMO, but convinced myself I could do better from scratch, which I did but I never failed to catch myself drooling over a NISMO.

forza370z 01-16-2013 09:21 PM

Nothing better then the factory bodykit. All aftermarket bodykits need some extra work on it and if you don't do it right then it's called rice. And if you do get Amuse kit, make sure you figure out how to change oil first.:ugh2: Bottom line, if you like the Nismo look and not planning heavy mods on your car then you should get a Nismo.

No need to defend your choice, the Nismo is a great car with some great features!

Some love it, some don't, but at the end of the day you still have a Z with a limited production run, no shame in that. And like you said, whats added already is enough for you.

I got the modding bug still so it wouldn't have been a good choice for me

But I heard knock-offs had trouble fitting perfectly on the car?

You will always do some additional twist to the aftermarket bodykits to make it fit nicely. And some of them will make you really headache for a long term use. As for the Amuse kit, also be aware it could be a little pain everytime you change the oil.

get the nismo, unless you want to spend 10k on the amuse kit

the nismo looks amazing, the wheels are great looking(plus they are forged aluminium so they are light), it has a better suspension set up, and it has 18 more horsepower off the lot from the factory Z(which isnt much honestly)

honestly you would have to test drive both back to back and see which one you like better, thats what i did and i loved the nismo when i was driving it

the kit is actually 5k with shipping.. which is still cheaper than the nismo. but isnt the sport's package just as good as the nismo?

ok how much is it after being installed and painted?
at the minimum its going to run you 7k and thats probably if you install it yourself...

the nismo Z is about 10k more(give or take) then the base(assuming you pay msrp) and you get the functional body kit(150lbs of downforce @ 75mph), the rims(which cost 1k/rim brand new no tires), nismo exhaust(~1k but the one on the nismo has an H pipe not a y pipe), better suspension(which for basic coilovers that will run you about 1k give or take), sway bars(~500), front and rear dampers, and the nismo strut tower brace(its a bit different then the base/touring)

if you're talking about straight line racing and living your life 13.1 secs at a time then yes they are the same but the nismo shines on road courses, it just a bit better then the base/touring W/sport, very neutral with handling in my opinion

to be honest if you are the occasional track day guy, then buy the nismo, its practically a turn key race car off the lot(just needs an oil cooler) plus all the money someone would have spend on wheels, a body kit, suspension, ect. can all go into modding the engine and brakes

370znj, you said you would search the forum. I'm having a hard time believing this considering you're still asking questions that can be found with a 10 second search. :shakes head:

To find the answer to your question just take a look at any one of these threads....

I would have gone for the nismo hands down ( I think it looks great), unfortunately I felt the power didn't match all the aero upgrades it had. If most bmw's can keep up with or beat a car that looks like the nismo that fancy body kit starts to seem a little less cool. On supra's and gtr's that kinda thing totally works, 370z not so much (unless you wanna go FI ;) ).
