Test drove the 2013 Nismo
So I got to test drive a 2013 Nismo, very disappointed.:shakes head: Not what I made it out to be. Was considering upgrading from my 09 Z to a nismo and was all excited to be behind the wheel of it. Dealer was kool as hell, let me take it on the freeway and test her out:tup: Wasn't feeling it though, the rev match took away all the fun. Sometimes it was clean other times it was jumping. I know that's due to me not being use to it. Clutch was mushy as hell, way too soft for me. It actually felt as if I were down grading lol I also got to test drive an automatic sport packaged Z and that felt way cleaner and more powerful than the nismo. :ugh2: So for now i'm going to stick with my modded up 09 Z :driving:

Nismo looks like a rice rocket to me

Not use to srm
Initially I was like that. I use to be a stick shaker until this car |

I get TONS of satisfaction bringing people to the dark side, Automatic, lol The 370Z's REALLY is THE best AT you can get for less than... About 100k |

The shifting on it is WAYYYYY nicer than on my ISF, and that has lockout. The 370Z lets you do whatever whenever |
i think its just the wing and rear bumper that kill it for me, i love the front end.

the only thing i dislike about the nismo kit are the side skirts |

I know what you mean; I wanted a Nismo when I went shopping but couldn't handle the large spoiler (what would the neighbors think?) & rougher ride. I ended up with the base auto & love it.

And also, look is totally subjective. I love my Nismo and so I believe many others. |

I know you can turn it off and on, but since I have a base Z I wanted to drive with it on and get a feel for it. To me the clutch felt mushy. then again that's due to me being use to driving my Z. My clutch is firmer compared to the Nismo i test drove |
Looks is way subjective, that's why at meets no two cars are alike
When I bought my car I definitely didn't want the nismo but something about the 2013 makes me kinda want one. |
IF you are modded pretty decently, then your car very well may be more powerful than a nismo. secondly, the srm takes some getting used to, the way u let the clutch out on the downshifts will determine how smooth it is.third, its the same clutch as your car, so the difference in peddle feel MAY (?) be attributed to the lsd (doubtful).
sport, touring is the way to go imo. i like the nismos, but also like me some creature comforts inside |

Nissan isn't known to make the best feeling nor the most consistent transmission manuals out there. Nissan has always made hit or miss manuals, so maybe this is why he doesn't like the NISMO manual. |
the clutch pedal in my 04 G feels heavy, but i get better feedback. when i removed the helper spring in my 09 Z, it made a world of difference. then got a century spring(?) locally from some guy selling it. it feels a lot better than stock. not quite as good as the G's, but the gearbox feels a lot better in the Z. :)
SRM works best when braking moderatly to hard. if one's braking lightly, you can either clutch-out slower or give it a tap of blip to ensure smooth engagement. |
I for one have grown to like the Nismo. I'll admit I didn't like it at first, but it does have a sleek and sportier look. It might be better than the "cat fish" remark everyone else gets. Whatever floats your boat.
|
I love manual transmission cars, but I have to admit that I wish I got the Z's impressive auto system instead of their jerky 6MT. Oh and you can turn off SRM. I for one love that system.
|
there is a world of difference between the Zs automatic and 6mt. I might cross back over to an automatic...not sure though
|
Nismos are the ****, yeah the stock Z's look just as good, but then again the nismos add that extra :yum:

@OP i feel you wernt given a proper test drive, instead of taking it out on the freeway, see if there is a back road near by and open up the nismo there, from what i have noticed, the nismo and base/touring 370z feel the same when pulling in a straight line but when you get in the corners, the nismo has neutral handling(in my experience driving it) while the base/touring has a tad bit of understeer(not much but enough for me to notice it) sure ride is rough but seriously who buys a car like this and expects it to be soft and quite |

Unfortunate you didn't enjoy the MT. I personally love mine, especially srm but I don't have nearly as many issues driving the Z's mt as others it seems. Pretty sure manual is a dying breed.

Coming from a non Nismo owner, I think the Nismo looks awesome!
Imagine a Nismo rs with the GTR's transmission.. :yum: |
Imagine a Nismo RS with the GTR's engine. :yum:

Only in my wildest dreams. I wish some billionaire on this site would make a 370Z to GTR conversion. |

we tried to but there was a CHP hiding lol |
well, the only thing i will say is the clutch feel of being too soft is easily fixable with a slight adjustment and a different spring. night and day

This is why people that compete with the 370z ends up putting the nismo body on it. EDIT: Chances are that you test drove a nismo with the spring spacers still on too. It probably also felt like it had no springs. |

thats understandable i got lucky cause where i went to get my nismo, they were right by the 67 near some of the really fun parts as well and the sales man let me open both cars up there and i just had a blast with the nismo, the touring/sport was fun but i really enjoyed the nismo personally you should give it another shot and see if CHP is there lol Quote:
the GTM Stage 1 TT kit will make the 370z a GTR killer(stock GTR) EDIT here is a video of 2 TT 370zs eating 2 modded GTRs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYVd3BG9giE |

the sales man was gonna let me open her up so we went on a back road and sure enough sitting in a corner is a CHP lol |

it wouldnt be a Z if it had AWD now would it?(well a real Z imo) and as far as a built in computer goes, an OBD2 bluetooth adapter and an android tablet installed in the dash with the torque app can cover that.... |
I test drove both Sport/touring and the Nismo before my purchase and really loved how the Nismo handled. There is a big difference. Nismo was tighter hands down. Clutch feel was the same. The Nismo body lines were 100% better. I disagree with JungleZ calling it rice. The deal breaker for me was no nav and leather option (which by the way is offered outside the US).
Try test driving with another dealership. At universal city Nissan the guys can take you to a canyon about a mile from the dealership. There are nice curves up there. |
