Marketing...

I think it poses a bit of a conundrum. Its a sportier version of a sports car. It gets a rougher ride and more aggressive styling, but only slightly more so. This kind of thing doesn't make much sense to me sometimes. If you are going to make a racier version of a car, then make it. Like someone said..better seats, less weight, stickier rubber, better suspension, etc. It feels like they just change a few tidbits and give it a badge and then it sells more. Where I come from, that's called marketing, not a track focused version. Take BMW's M division and Merc's AMG... thats what Nismo should be like. Like a Scuderia, like a Black Series... thats what the Nismo 370Z should be like.

Thats not to say I wouldnt take the Nismo if I had the choice again, but I don't feel as bad about the decision as they should have made me feel.

NISMO is NOT for track or anything performance based:

IL Track Tested: 2009 Nissan Nismo 370Z vs. 2009 Nissan 370Z Touring | Straightline Blog on Edmunds' Inside Line

here is where a touring model out performs a nismo and in most cases you find the nismo equal or performing very slightly better, dont let it fool you.

i've looked so much into this whether i want a nismo or base model, here is my old thread before i made up my mind: Nismo Body Kit

Car isn't broken in yet ( about 1000 miles on the OD) and the last people I trust for perfomance driving is Edmunds. They consistantly get worse performance than average out of every car they test. The real sin here is no oil cooler. Nissan did significantly stiffen the car and add HP that should easily make up for slight weight gain. I don't see how the NISMO, given it's upgrades, could do so bad on something as simple as a skid pad test. Others are pulling .98's and .99's while Edmonds got a .91. That doesn't even match a 350Z. Something is definately not kosher with this test or that particular car. I'm betting much better results in the future.

+1

People shouldnt base anything and everything on a single magazine(online or print) review.

Well guess the 370z NISMO fails compared to mine. Sad to see that. I knew when I drove it, it felt like it wasn't as good.

Just to compare, the 07 NISMO had better numbers.

i've looked at tons of reviews almost all AK has posted, i was just giving an example of where/when the nismo slipped up on one comparo.

besides if it is or isn't better in anything than the touring model the differences all show that there is no significant difference like you would when buying a civic ex vs a civic si (just an example, but alos a 2.5k price difference)
