So RevD and RevE are problem free? Anyone know when they switched? I've got a June 2010 build so I think I'm good but I guess I'll check just in case...
|
so far problem free for rev d but it could go out...not sure? haven't heard of any Ds and Es going out yet?

One member here with a 2011 Z had the failure. Dont wait - Use the fixes avail to get this thing isolated. The system was deleted in late 2011 from the car so why would you EVEN risk it. Its a useless system.

So you can freely rotate the wheel when the car is off? |

'Nissan stopped using these locks on the 2012 Z's entirely, confirmed by a member who looked on her car for us... which is not very convincing for those of us stuck with the 'old' system. another member confirmed he could turn the steering L/R by hand pushing on the tires while the front end is off the ground, car turned off....so there is no substitute mechanism on the 3/2011 build to present.' |

I thought it was a mistake? that they DID replaced huanz with revision "d" and not E?

NISSAN fixed the design. The fix wasn't to keep revising the lock. The fix was to delete the lock entirely (on later model Z's).
It's likely they had trend data on all revisions, showing a high defect rate due to an inherent flaw. The enthusiast community fixed the design too (on earlier model Z's). The fix is to virtually delete the lock by pulling the fuse, harness, cutting the wire etc. Stuff like this makes me really like that we got such a kick arse forum! I'm one of guys that got saved from getting stranded. For me, it was late at night, in the rain, in the corner of a deserted airport parking lot, having just gotten off a 6+ hour fight. My SL failed! I kicked the SL and got my car to start. Drove home, left car on, pulled up the fuse thread, then pulled the fuse. Took a few minutes. Saved me tons of cash and the hassle of leaving my car with the dealer. Tapatalk & such etc |
