ATTENTION!! 2009-2010 owners with steering lock/wont start issues

Recall fixes are done free of charge whether the car is under warranty or not. I believe they will replace with rev D. I've already pulled the fuse on mine

Recall fixes are done free of charge whether the car is under warranty or not. I believe they will replace with rev D. I've already pulled the fuse on mine (rev C). I guess when I get the notice I'll put the fuse back, get it changed, then pull it again to be safe.

so i think i may be getting the run around. called nissan and they said i had to take my car back to the dealer to be inspected and close the recall. nissan dealer said i need to call nissan and have consumer affairs close it since the work is already done and that they can do nothing for me...

Default ESCL Recall

I received a letter from Nissan Consumer Affairs Department (03/15/2013), telling me that my ESCL needed to be replaced. I have a 2009 370Z MT with 5230 miles on it. The ESCL in the car was never faulty but the letter said that Nissan dealer will replace the ESCL free of charge for parts and labor.

My question is: After the dealer replace the ESCL, Is it worth to go ahead and disconnect the ESCL? I understand that even if the ESCL is replaced, it could be a failure in the future with the new part in place.

^i'd assume that if it fails after the recall that they would warranty the repair

^ Only if your car is still under warranty. I would pull the fuse even after the recall. There has to be a reason why the late 2011 - current Zs don't have a SLU.

I haven't received my recall notice yet but called my service mgr, gave him he recall number, P3208, and he took it from there. I took it in today and the unit was replaced in less than an hour at N/C. Mine had never indicated a problem and hope it doesn't now that it has been changed. I think they have a list of VIN's the recall affects. It was an easy trip to the dealer.

My dealer left me a VM today about the recall.

My SL is a D. It's also broken. My 2nd one. Fuse is out.

Guess when I go in for the recall I'll take my 10amp fuse and tell them to put it in while replacing the SL.

I'll just take the fuse out again after. This will be my 3rd SL lols.

I just called my dealer to schedule an appointment and when he ran my VIN he says mine is not affected. Anyway for me to check he isn't handing me a line. Mine is a 6/10 build.

I haven't seen the list of affected VINs, but it is my understanding that the recall is for all 2009-2010 370Zs. Call another dealer and ask.

Mine is also a 6/10 build and I called 2 dealers in my area with the VIN number and I also called Nissan customer service and no recall for my vehicle.

Looks like I misunderstood.

Just a wild guess, but it could be that your Z came with a Rev D ESCL (SLU). You might want to look at the ESCL label and check. If it's not a Rev D, pitch a fit with Nissan.

Yeah it's Rev C. I think two versions of a Rev C came out before D. So we have the second verion of Rev C lock I assume. So it might be the early 2010's that has the recalls who knows but you right Nissan should do all 2010's.

There have been enough Rev C failures reported that I would be concerned.

First I've heard of two versions of Rev C. Something doesn't sound quite right about that. Why wouldn't they call "Rev C version 2" "Rev D"? You could be right - this whole ESCL (SLU) debacle is bewildering to me.
