The "boy racer" comment is likely just jealously over all that turbo powa.
Sure the Sedan is more mature (well not really the front of it with the big *** hood scoop) But it is in no way any less of a boy racer then a Evo. Its the same class. The STi is just the child of the Rallycross world that was given up for adoption.

To me this isnt really a boy racer look. Looks pretty much just like a normal mature lancer. Now the old evo's such as the 8's and 9's, yea by all means, boy racer.

They only come in 4-door variants, no quad exhaust or gigantic spoiler. As far as STI's are concerned it certainly looks a little more reserved to me. Relax, everyone still appreciates your evo (color matched front grill also helps tone things down).

TBH like most things it doesn't really have anything to do with the cars themselves, it's more the people who choose to drive them.

I live in California LA and I'm thinking about doing this trade also. Mainly because of the rear seats and the fact that I can make power a lot easier and cheaper.

2005 sti is boy racer for sure, I'm saying that was my favorite looking boy racer.

Evos look Terrible in my opinion. One of the worst looking cars on the road. I can sacrifice some performance to not be seen in an garbage like that

the evo is a good car, doesnt matter what people say.

So is the STI.

The only problem with the evo is that mitsubishi sucks. Thats it.

just get an STI

honestly they are more reliable then the EVO is, once something goes with Mitsubishi engines, everything starts going(thats what im experiencing with my turbo eclipse which has the same engine as the evo 8/9)

plus with an STI, you can but one of the Cobb Accessport tuners and get your car faster then it would cost you to tune an EVO(plus there is only 1 Mitsubishi tuner in all of california, road race engineering)

I think that'll happen when you start messing around with either engine. I have many friends who have had to rebuild their STI engines. Pay to play I guess?

^^ Ahh, snake that FP Red sounds so sexy

FYI OP, you're not going to have fun driving on the stock summer tires that come on the Evo... they'll put you in a bad situation real quick.

i drove my evo with the stock advans in the snow when i got back from afghanistan. Never had any issues. But then again, never got into a situation that required really good tires (ie slamming on the brakes or swurving). But they still did a good job going through a foot of snow..lol. Once i get the car on the road ill be getting Nokian Studded tires for the winter.

This wouldn't be a bad idea except for the fact that it's highly underpowered for it's weight and it only comes in automatic.

I've owned RWD cars almost exclusivley except for my previous 06 WRX; I much prefer AWD. I've honestly been waiting for someone to make a good 40k or less AWD car. I've considered the new STI but in my opinion it's underpowered for the price. Doesn't make sense to me to pay 37k for a car that only has 305hp. Plus I'm not 100% sold on the larger body and look of the current STI vs. the previous smaller styles. Give me a G37X with a manual tranny and some sort of FI V6 and I'm sold.

Save yourself the headache and loss of money on a trade and get the Blizzaks. My Z is my DD in Minnesota and I have zero issues in the snow.

its not a sexZ. but it do have that mean look to it. thats why i prefer the X. way cheaper parts also.

sti are good. but i seen about 10 in my area. only one 370z and a bunch of 350z. no evos. you know that feeling when you have like the only car in your area.

im going to miss the neck breaks i get when im driving the z tho.
