That aside, the Evo is far from a downgrade. It's a fantastic car and has been a dominant car on the track over the years for a reason. Of all the cars I've owned, my Evo 8 had the best steering feedback and confidence inspiring handling. It was very easy to drive hard and could be modded very easily with little money. None of this is a reason the OP is giving for the change and I wouldn't trade mine for an Evo being in SoCal. But I loved AWD for those crappy days of weather. So being in Ohio, I see this as a smart move. Other than losing your a$$ financially.

Congrats on the Evo. You will have a blast in it.
Lookwise I love both new Evo and Sti(hatch not sedan). I used to fight myself so bad on getting an evo x or new sti. Still not sure. So I got Xttera instead for a completely different purpose. But I know in the future, this Evo or Sti thing will come back to me again. Lol.

I had an Evo 8 too and I have to agree with the steering feed back and handling, honestly it felt better than my 2012 z in handling and steering feedback. The z is just a better overall car

Definitely as a DD, overall quality, overall power, handling and daily liveability. The Z has way more advantages. As a sports car. It just all depends on what you like to do as a sport in your car.

I can't believe you tried to drive in snow with the stock summer performance tires lol then you were like "the handling on this Z sucks in the winter! I'm getting an Evo!"

I almost bought an STi myself.. but the Z is SO much greater, sexually.

This wouldn't be a bad idea except for the fact that it's highly underpowered for it's weight and it only comes in automatic.

I've owned RWD cars almost exclusivley except for my previous 06 WRX; I much prefer AWD. I've honestly been waiting for someone to make a good 40k or less AWD car. I've considered the new STI but in my opinion it's underpowered for the price. Doesn't make sense to me to pay 37k for a car that only has 305hp. Plus I'm not 100% sold on the larger body and look of the current STI vs. the previous smaller styles. Give me a G37X with a manual tranny and some sort of FI V6 and I'm sold.

I live in California LA and I'm thinking about doing this trade also. Mainly because of the rear seats and the fact that I can make power a lot easier and cheaper.

just get an STI

honestly they are more reliable then the EVO is, once something goes with Mitsubishi engines, everything starts going(thats what im experiencing with my turbo eclipse which has the same engine as the evo 8/9)

plus with an STI, you can but one of the Cobb Accessport tuners and get your car faster then it would cost you to tune an EVO(plus there is only 1 Mitsubishi tuner in all of california, road race engineering)

I think that'll happen when you start messing around with either engine. I have many friends who have had to rebuild their STI engines. Pay to play I guess?

2005 sti is boy racer for sure, I'm saying that was my favorite looking boy racer.

Evos look Terrible in my opinion. One of the worst looking cars on the road. I can sacrifice some performance to not be seen in an garbage like that

the evo is a good car, doesnt matter what people say.

So is the STI.

The only problem with the evo is that mitsubishi sucks. Thats it.
