I'll take a calculated approach to modding the Z. First, I'll need to drive the car! Then I'll find out what aspects could use improvement to make it a more well-rounded sports car. Just from this side of the monitor, I'd want to lower the car about an inch to really nail the stance. In order to do that I'll measure the stock suspension, check spring rates and roll centers in order to know what I'm getting myself into to get that stance. Lowering spring of selected rates would be excellent if they don't sacrifice too much compression travel and the car doesn't need different dampers, however most likely a set of coilovers from the likes of JIC or KW would make for a nice riding and excellent handling setup while having great stance. After that, we'll have to start lobbying brake pad companies to start making more compounds available for the Sport pack brakes. I'd like to see both low-dust fast street pads and all out drop-the-anchor race pads become available quickly.Cheers,Ryan

Ryephile, you want to do what companies like KW and Cusco do for you hehe. I would opt for a nice set of damper adjustable coilovers like the KW's to do some suspension tuning. In the end you wont be building the springs yourself, but buying them from a company like these so all your calculations would only go to choosing one or the other...
I definitely like your approach though, keep us updated on which path you take... |
