Considering selling the Z

I just don't drive it very much. I drive my Jeep for work mostly, and whenever I have to go pick up something bulky for the house, or take the dog with us somewhere...etc.

Then there's the insurance money that's getting sucked out every month for it.

With all the money I'd save I could easily get some new brewing gear.

I wonder how tough it is to sell a car for 29-30K to an individual?

Well trying to find someone with $30k cash might be a problem in this economy, it would really depend on what their lender would want to pay for the car. While it is your personal decision to make, there is another option if you really don't want to let the car go or if you think you would regret it soon after. You could register it as Non-op & drop the insurance & just park it in the garage for later use. Just an idea. Good luck with your decision :tiphat:

This is great advice.

lol, if I measured the value of my Z by the amount of time I got to drive her each year.... lol, I'd be pretty upset! But the reason for owning a Z is usually more than just as a DD. I drive my MKX most of the time and that just makes those days behind the wheel of the Z that much more special!

PS: I haven't driven my Z since October 15th, probably won't till April at best....

I've owned my car for 2 years almost, and have less than 9k miles. But when I get to rip it up on the weekends I love it! Well worth the expense to me even thought it's just for fun. If you don't smile when you walk up to your Z then I'd say get rid of it.

Wow...you sounded just like me last year. I owned an '07 350Z Roadster that was a garage queen never even driving it in the rain. I had a Toyota Matrix as a DD and drove the Z on weekends. Even though I loved the Z, after a while I could not justify paying for it, not to mention the insurance and taxes, when it basically sat in the garage. I decided to trade it in for something more practical and got a MazdaSpeed3. Though the MS3 is no dog, it's not a Z. I missed the Z so much that after just a few months of having the MS3, I traded that in for the '09 370Z I have now and have never looked back. I'll drive my Z until the wheels fall off and I can tell you that I have a renewed appreciation for the Z. I just hope you don't regret it like I did when I traded my 350Z in. I would really think about it before you make the decision to get rid of it. Good luck!

If you have a car like the Z, you'll have to make the conscious decision to either have it as a DD or mostly a weekender car. A lot of people who have the Z as a weekender may eventually decide to sell off the car as they see it' s not worth the expense to maintain and pay for a car that's essentially driven only on the weekends and not a very practical one at that.

As for me I have the Z as a DD as much as possible, have done 6,000km's in the last six months and although quite a few times it's just as easy if not easier to jump in the Sportage - it simply is not the same as having a blast down the streets with the Zed!

my Z is over 3yrs old and has less than 12K miles on it... basically my weekend hobby car on nice days. :) she's hibernating now and still insured as usual (leisure car insurance).

same with my G. 9yrs and less than 33K miles. :)

I've been thinking of the same thing as well. I can only drive my car 1/2 the year and I would be saving a ton of money towards buying my first house.

yah, buy a house with garage first... then get your hobby cars.

yep. get your stuff straight first and then later on, come back (they always do :stirthepot:) there's just something special about a Z and the community that its in, draws you back.
