Not to be the bearer of bad news...but you need to consider all of these:
1. what is owed on your current car 2. what you will get for your current car 3. difference between the two - plus or minus 4. actual sales price of the new car - not just the sticker 5. new car purchase sales tax, title and license fees locally - usually around 3k+ 6. interest rate at time of purchase 7. down payment Take that check list - put numbers to it...and then you can see the "real" costs involved in changing.
