Obd 3 or 2???

Does our car have OBD2 or OBD3,
A buddy and I were discussing this and he is hell bent on thinking its 3, even his dealer says 3... But I still think it's 2

From my understanding, when black boxes get installed is when we will have 3... And our cars don't... Yet......

I have the same understanding as you, ie, OBD-III hasn't been implemented yet. But I'm no expert.

The 370Z uses OBD-II for standard diagnostics and CAN for inter-module communications.

I think there are OBD3 systems in cars right now, because quite a bit of new cars have black boxes, just not the 370, thank god for that

I didn't dig very deep but as far as I can tell, OBD-III was introduced in 2012 on some vehicles (GM?). Haven't seen anything one way or the other regarding 370Zs or Nissans in general.

There was a thread about black boxes and I think the 2013 models were on that list, however there was a asterisk next to it regarding limited data recording rather than a full log. I'll do a search for it when I get the chance.

Don't know if it means that the 2013 is running OBDIII but it DOES mean I have a black box in my car... production date 08/12 and above.
