You would have been better off taking it easy from standing starts and just being respectful to the officer and by chance gotten off with a warning.
Respect doesn't work when there's a quota to meet by the end of the day and its almost time for a Donut break. States like NY and california are just Fascist Marxist test-pilots where police have total control over the people. They do what they want and the people have to eat it.
Is there deferred adjudication or Defensive driving/probation? It sucks but that's the best way to go once a ticket is issued. Its hard to beat tickets unless you hire a lawyer.

Speeding tickets are an $8 billion per year industry.

Reason: it is a very easy metric to prove with highly calibrated instruments. If caught, you have very little to stand on.

Why aren't there more distracted driving tickets? Very hard to catch or prove, especially in a mass quantity. This is the challenge that law enforcement has to undertake.

If safety was truly an issue, more focus would be placed on rigorous license requirements and continual testing. However, our society is based on the automobile and denying someone a license is a huge limitation on their lives. It's really a catch 22

The only true answer is autonomous cars, they will safely go over 100mph, reduced safety features required = lighter cars = better fuel consumption.

If speed truly killed, we would die every time we stepped on an airplane. Reason we don't? Highly trained operators are in control. It's not the speed that kills, it's the sudden stop. Lets focus on preventing unplanned sudden stops due to lack of driver skill or attention.

Might want to re-read Trips' post real quick.

Law Enforcement is what it is. Enforcement of Law. Break the law = get pulled over.

To the OP, it's time to open up a physics book

Start by calculating it with uniform acceleration equations. Does this come out in the realm of probability? And then you can get more detailed from there. I am not going to do your homework for you, however.

This was when I was young and didn't respect anyone. Trust me I almost say nothing when I get pulled over now (which has been almost 7 years), only what is needed to get my punishment, then I am on my way.

ok aside from the good advice about how to deal with the LEO - and the resulting ticket..

here is some simple math:

miles per hour = 60
feet per mile = 5280
feet per hour = 316800
feet per second = 88
published time to go 0-60 = 5.5 seconds
total feet traveled if going constant 60 mph = 484

simple to assume that you will go more feet because you are going less than 60 mph while you accelerate.

exactly how much more i'll leave to you - but it already puts OP over the stated distance.

It doesn't matter if you we're breaking the law or not. If the cops want to ticket you, you will be ticketed regardless of the truth. If you don't have a lawyer, the phrase "it's what you can prove in court" doesn't even hold true. You can provide all the evidence in the world, but they will still ticket you.

Depending on how much your insurance will go up, it may be worth it to get a lawyer to represent you. They are the only ones who speak the language of the courts. Appeal it, if they say you must present new evidence to repeal, just add some small minute detail and repeat all the evidence you showed last time on a HUGE CLEARLY WRITTEN POSTER BOARD (if you don't go the lawyer route). I'm serious, write it out as if the judge was a child, if its at all confusing they will not want to spend more than 5 seconds trying to understand it. It's not in their best interest to help you out so they won't want to take the time and hear your side. Remember they are there to fine you, not help you or sort out what actually happened.

I did not insult LEO's in this post. I firmly do not believe I am breaking any forum rules with this post, just trying to enlighten the OP on what's happening in this situation. Is everything I'm saying absolutely true? Probably not, but its the correct mindset you have to have to win this sort of thing.

Published times have shown from 4.6 to 4.9 with a foot of rollout. 5.0-5.3 without.
5.5 is like a 12 genesis coupe or G35. Anyway, the solution table still resolves the issue. Good work.
