2011 or 2013??
Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster. I totaled my previous car last week, looking to pick up a Z Roadster.
A dealership 100 miles away has a 2011 Roadster with Touring & Sport package on the lot with 15 miles on it that I can drive away tomorrow. Or I can order a 2013 Roadster, also Touring & Sport Package, and wait 3-4 months for delivery. The local dealership has offered a {crappy but free} loaner for the whole time if I order the new one since I'm car-less at the moment. The 2011 is 15% cheaper, with the benefit of immediate delivery, but of course it's 2 years older, so when I go to sell it will have lower trade-in value. I would be interested in your thoughts on this decision. Thanks in advance. |

With only 15 miles on the 2011, I'd say that's a no-brainer!!
But then again, I'm not a fan of a lot of the changes in the 2013 styling to each their own, though. I'm also impatient **now that I post, I wonder how a 2 year old car could only have 15 miles on it. Anyone have thoughts on service that should be done for a brand new car that been sitting for 2 years? I would ask for fresh fluids at the very least.

I would just go ahead with the 2011, I do find it odd the extreme low milleage. Your really not going to care about the age in a few years, so instead of trying to get the latest yr/model out there, save some money and go with the 2011. I would also not be able to wait around for the 2013 if the 2011 model is what I wanted.

It depends if you like the looks of the minor facelifting on the 2013. I don't like the changes made to the front especially the removal of the "fangs" in the radiator grille and the vertical LED daytime running lights. As for the rear, I think they added the center fog lamp that the JDM and some right hand drive cars have. Are you LHD or RHD in Taiwan?

I pretty much agree with the above. Unless you really like the new look of the 2013 model, go ahead grab the 2011 one. You could save some money and enjoy it right away.
Having said that, the 2013 model's new look is really growing on me. I wasn't a big fan of them until I saw one in person. |

13. Better suspension and NO steering lock problems also get an oil cooler as well. Forget the fangs, they are old news and weren't loved either when they appeard. The 2013 improvements outweigh the 11 no problem.

11's don't have steering lock problems. You can also do your own oil cooler instead of the junk Nissan claims is one. Unless color or style is a big deal to you, the 11' is a much much better buy. I wouldn't look at the suspension changes on a convertible as a benefit. That's my personal opinion. The difference would most likely be very minor. And seriously, since when was the base suspension considered bad?

It's a "eurotuned" suspension. Most likely a damper change, that's it. It's only for the SP models. I'm not 100% for verts, but I'll say those as well.

I bought a 2011 Roadster this year. It was new with 67 miles. Touring, Sport, and Navigation. It was earlier this year, but I got 0 percent Nissan financing.
I dont suppose thats available now, but it made up my mind. |

Do a search on any 11+ having steering lock issues, find one and I'll redact my statement. In all honesty, if the OP doesn't have a preference on style or specific color, the 2011 is a much better buy. They will most likely offer special financing and more $$$ of in comparison to the 2013. It's not a matter of affordability. A SP + touring convertible model with nav can scrape past 50k. Getting the same thing for less is just more sensible. The depreciation on such a loaded vehicle will hurt when buying new, at least get it for a huge discount to ease the pain. Now if the OP wants the new blue or red color, likes the new SP rims and bumper, by all means, get what you want. But to me, saying I got a 13' instead of I have an 11' because its "newer than the other new car? That's just a smug individual trying to make a statement no one would give a flying F about in the first place.... except the smug individual.
