Z's a dying breed ?

I find pride knowing that owning a Z only caters to select few. Which means it will hold its value in the long run. I see a lot of Muscle

350Z US sales per year...

2002 13,253
2003 36,728
2004 30,690
2005 27,278
2006 24,635
2007 18,957
2008 10,337

As you can see, in it's heyday the 350Z sold about 3X as many cars as the 370Z ever has. This is due to a lot of factors but mainly the recession hitting. The recession of 2001 was ending when the 350Z came out so slaes were booming again and sports cars were hot. I think I've heard a figure of somewhere around 250,000 world wide sales total for the 350Z.

I left for Fort Benning Ga. last Thursday to see my son graduate from his A.I.T. and traveled through 3 states to and from and I seen 3 350Z's 1 other 370Z and 2 300ZX's

I DID see about 500 BMW's 300 Camaro's and 250 Mazda RX 8's

So like Zoren 370 stated and I quote : " I find pride knowing that owning a Z only caters to select few. "

i know of only two 370's around where i live, one of which belongs to a member on here and which is Twin Turbo'ed.

i see more porsche GT3's and regular porsche's than i do 370s round here, and for that, makes me lift my head a little higher and knowing the fact that i paid less than those porsche guys did AND i see maybe one 370 every 6 months if that.

everytime i take it out, the looks and stares, Smiles and Thumbs up, Stories from people whom drove their old 240-280z's and how they wished they still had the car....all i get is unmatched compared to the "regular sights" sports cars. and that to me is worth more than say a 90k porsche lol

Ya it's to bad the 370z is slower than a gt mustang on the track, Nissan needs to step their game up or else yes the z will be a dying breed

Actually it's more like the opposite. Poor sales numbers does not equal exclusivity by any means. It's not like the Z is some rare exclusive supercar or something. I'm not hating on the Z, I have one and I love it. It's just the truth.

I agree with this, but it doesn't look like it will happen from the last rumors I've heard for the next gen Z. It will be smaller and lighter, but also come with a 4 cyl turbo to compete with the FRS/BRZ. Of course those are still rumors and nothing has been confirmed yet. Would be sad to see the Z step down in competition, but it would definitely boost sales numbers.

I see a lot of 350z's everywhere, I've only seen a few 370z's around my area which I'm completely fine with. One of my friends is trying to convince me to sell my Z and buy his Mustang GT 5.0, but I see mustangs everywhere. I like being one of the nicest, and more rare, imports going to the car shows.

There are 2 other 370s in my area of north Idaho. Mine is parked for the winter. I love the fact I hardly see any others on the road.

I really can't see the Z going to 4 cylinder. The Z heritage is 6 cylinder and changing to a 4 would just kill it for most of the Z fans. Smaller car and if you had to drop engine size, smaller 6. The SX is the 4 banger platform.

I'm all for having a non turbo Z and a TT Z model again. It can play in two different market segments. The GTR can keep the throne, as most people buy the Z for it's purity, not because it has cool electronic computers driving the car for you. Or... toss in that VK56VD and bump it up to 450hp, make it a real Nismo. If your gonna compete, might as well compete with the right motor. Comparable to the new Vettes, and would blow the doors off anything else in it's price range. It'd be worth the 50-55k it would cost.

Okay, finally escaped my dream....Into reality, Twin superchargers
In 9 months I'll be like

Not dying, but I don't see them often around here, which I also like. Definitely more a luxury to have a 2 seater here with out bad winters.

Its funny, I've heard about that issue in NY too, my cousin had a Z for awhile...said some guys were just too lazy to travel or put effort in.

Put it this way, at local meets here...our VQ club usually steals the show with clean G's & Z's and the Z then takes the spotlight overall...especially as we'll be 2-3 370's,
