My neighbors cat keeps climbing the hood of my car!!

Hello all,

As the tittle suggest the neighbors cat keeps climbing the hood of my 370z. I wake up in the morning and see all these paws prints on the hood of my car!! Sometimes I find hair! Like if the cat snuggle with the car. I want that cat off my car lol.

How do you guys suggest I handle the situation?

You should just get a car cover

The cat likes your car since it's warm, I have a few cats that like to hang around my neighborhood and one even sleeps under my car lol

FPenvy 12-06-2012 12:46 PM

car cover works. this is why i park mine in the garage.

SS_Firehawk 12-06-2012 12:48 PM

Attach a car battery to the body of the car...

jack hammer help make it work lol

i got a detached 30x30 garage and then a 1 bay attached garage for winter storage

cptspeed 12-06-2012 12:54 PM

spray ammonia on the ground around the car. cats hate the smell. it works

kidkotic2001 12-06-2012 01:00 PM

Well here is what you do,

Get yourself some sort of weapon BB, Pellet, Pain ball Gun, and shoot the lights of out the cat.

This will solve your issue, and when the neighbors come looking just let them know that you have not seen their precious kitty.

R0bDC 12-06-2012 01:04 PM

Lol I like some I'd these ideas, the garage I can't. My Nissan Titan is in the garage, since I don't drive it.

I like the paintball gun idea, I have a beast one. Lol I would just hate getting paint on my car.

And the other hard thing is that I haven't actually seen the cat and obviously I don't want to scare him while he's on the hood because he might scratch the car. I think he's going to have to meet the hose.

scottIN 12-06-2012 01:09 PM

If you live in the city, chances are that there is an ordinance against letting animals run loose. Dog, cat or horse, doesn't matter.

I had this issue with a neighbor about 10 years ago. It was destroying all the trim on my Mercedes becasue it would slide down the windows and then use it claws to catch itself on the trim. Told her to keep her cat inside or on her property or I would have it picked up. Of course she didn't, so I had the dog (cat?) catcher come out with a trap. First night we caught what's in the photo below. Second night we caught her cat, but she got it out of the trap before animal control got there. Next night, caught it again and animal control picked it up before she got to it. When they arrived, she came out and got into a fight with them. They ended up taking her cat, fining her for all kinds of stuff (including battery on an officer) and she had to go get her cat out of 'jail'. Never saw the cat outside after that.

People say 'Well, it's just a cat. What can it do?'. That cat did about $700 damage to my car (never got the lady to pay) in just a couple of nights (brand new car). I didn't have a garage, so that wasn't an option. And I wasn't going to cover my car every time I pulled in the driveway becasue of an irresponsible pet owner.

BTW-I have a cat (inside only) and a dog (always on a leash), so it's not like I'm some animal hater or anything. I just think people should be responsible for their pets.

First night's catch:

And you'll never train a cat to stay off the hood:

I come outside to my cats sleeping on my cars all the time lol. No damage so I leave them and they don't wander off the property much.

USMCASA 12-06-2012 01:31 PM

get a break barrel single shot pellet rifle, they can achieve speeds of 1000fps or more. i had a daisy quest that i dropped 7 of the neighbors strays they brought home for getting on my convertible and picking the top. 1 well placed pellet to the head at no more than 60 ft away will drop it instantly.

now though with my Z i have a garage, only had the issue once... well that and left some cat food outside spiked with acetametaphine as they can't process out as much as we can and they OD somewhere else.

feel lucky. i constantly have to shoot racoons. my "odd" neighbor leaves food out for them and feeds them. she thinks they are her pets and now they have a nest right behind her house at the edge of the woods. recently had one goin towards my younger (20yr) sister while washing her car. good thing i had my glock on me :owned:

:iagree:
If the owner refuses to be responsible, don't hesitate to call your local ACO.

I don't allow my dogs to roam the neighborhood. I don't have a problem if your pet gets loose every now and then (it happens, even to me), but PLEASE make an effort to keep them on your property. Several ppl in my neighborhood allow their cats to roam at will - I leave the back door open when weather/mosquitoes permit and my Australian Cattle Dog does a good job of keeping them out of the back yard. :)

MarkGideon 12-06-2012 02:08 PM

Do you know who the cat belongs to? Have you talked with the owner about it?

If yes and yes, and still nothing is done, then follow the advice above about contacting animal control. As tempting as it is to shoot/poison/kill them (and I have been really tempted myself in the past to do this), it is just not worth it if you get caught. Seriously, it is almost as bad to kill a cat as a person. LOL

Good luck.

USMCASA 12-06-2012 02:19 PM

also if the owner of the cat refuses to pay file a claim with your insurance against her homeowners insurance. just let your insurance company go after them, they'll learn. then kill the cat anyway

also call animal control after scratching yourself with a straight pin. tell them her cat did it and you want it tested for rabies or have it put down lol

Since the coyotes moved in a few years ago, just seeing a cat outdoors is a rarity for me.

Good luck.

That's true, we do have a lot of coyotes out here too, and we're within walking distance (football field) from the desert... probably why I've only seen one or two cats.

Though, I usually do run at them to scare them off of my property. :icon17:

Killing the animal can get you in a lot of trouble, especially if it is someone's pet. Discharging a firearm (in many places this includes air guns, paint ball guns, &c) in a populated area can get you in a lot of trouble. I can also close my eyes and see a zealous prosecutor and some kind of terrorism charges.
Tempting as it may be, extermination is probably not a good answer.

But if you live someplace where it's allowed, go for it. Cats are evil.

we got some coyotes around my area too. my buddy got 2 the other day when he shot his deer too.

We are a crazy bunch>>>>>>>

But another thing that I have done is gotten cat food and added some chemicals...... and hopefully die in their home.

When I was living in HI with my Evo, there was a crazy cat lady with about ten cats, that would roam around our house. They used to climb all over my Evo, and even crawl into my HKS Ti exhaust:eek: That didn't bother me too much, until they started bringing fleas with them, into my yard.
So needless to say, I wanted these cats gone! Well, about five cans of tuna soaked with antifreeze slid under my car later, the cats were no longer to be found.......
I hate cats!

I feel your pain. i have a similar problem, but they are my old ladies cats, and its in the garage. they love the heat from the furnace out there, so we cant keep them out. many times i have put on the welding gloves and pulled a cat off my hood!!
I hate them little f$#kers.

Always disliked cats. Less loyal, dirtier and you cant discipline them unlike dogs, and nothing is off limits for cats.

I was wondering with all this cat killing being suggested if anyone would chime in.

This is a far more subdued response than I had anticipated.
