Boost/AFR gauge ideas
ok.. i started one of these before, but it didnt yield much. so try again
so as i look to go fi, one of the most difficult things im finding is what to do about gauges. having nav kinda leaves me outta the option of doing cubby mounts. i have narrowed down a couple options. 1) blitz/hks nav display while this is an AWESOME solution, u are looking at the better part of $2k to get all the necessary pieces and install... and well im not cool with that 2) Custom A pillar mount. i know a couple people have done this BUT idk if i wanna rask catching an autometer in the face at airbag speeds in a side impact. plus, i'm not so sold on the look... 3) getting something like this: and just mounting (velcro'ing) it to the left of the steering wheel where its pretty well hidden out of sight. other than this, i am out of idea. i didnt think mountiung gauges would be this hard, but im kinda stuck tbh. i'm about to just say f it and throw them in the glove box and only look at them when i need to. does anyone have any other slick mounting/location ideas to help me get some boost/afr readings in the car

Option 1 is the best.. clean and nice. But money wise i would do 2. u can always conceal the A pillar with fabric upholstery!

without nav is easy. option on is my fav, but hard to justify the cost. fabbing an a pillar pod scares me lol. although maybe i should jsut suck it up and try it

1) Best combo of function and form, but way too expensive for me.
2) Great option if only two gauges (maybe three) are needed. Not sure how much room there is for wiring, but any pods should take that into consideration. It looks just a tad too "ricer" for my taste, but not that bad. 3) Not sure how big that display is, but looks adequate for mounting in the cubby, on the mirror, or even on the pillar if it won't obstruct vision. Extra points if it will read the CAN bus. 4) (Replace triple gauges) This is my favorite. From what I've read, changing out the OEM triple gauge is a PITA, but would be well worth the effort. 5) (Gauges is cubby) Another great option, if done well. Tied for second place with #3.

the most easily do-able looks to be #3. maybe if i could somehow adapt a blendmount for a scangauge to that piece, it could nicely mount above the mirror
side note: scan gauges only read the cars ecu outputs right? meaning u cant add afr/boost readouts into the mix?

Didnt even realize there was something like option 1 until now. Might have to rethink my gauge setup that I had planned.

Have you considered a windshield mount gauge set up....forgive me for referenceing my '06 Dodge Ram 2500....but we have 2, 3 and 4 gauge pod mounts that sit flush with the headliner along the windshield. It would take some working of the plastic to get the right profile, but I think it would work.

You can read AFRs from the factory sensors via the CAN bus and display on a SGII, but if you use AFR sensors that are "out of the loop" to the ECU (ie, not on the CAN bus), I don't think you can get the SGII to read them. IIRC, MAP is available via CAN, but not sure. I'm guessing that if you are using FI, you will exceed the range of the factory sensor. An after-market monitor will probably not be readable by the SGII. Unless it's OBD/CAN-compatible, the SGII probably can't read it.
