memorylasts 11-28-2012 01:42 AM

not worth the money but it depends on the quality.

8-10k min for a thorough good job

nmjaxx9 11-28-2012 02:47 AM

if you really want there is a diy how to plasti dip your whole car on Youtube check it out :tiphat:

Paint jobs aren't cheap, especially the three stages to do a PW. Why not wait until one becomes available.

JESUS CHRIST AT LEAST 8K JUST TO GET A DECENT PAINT JOB?
I'll just stick to vinyl wrapping if that's the case!

FlawlessZ 11-28-2012 09:01 AM

Just get the car warped in a more unique color if you actually want that PG. it's a great alternative and u won't devalue your car. Forget plasti dip.

Huck 11-28-2012 10:54 AM

you can get a good wrap job anywhere from $1500 to $4000 depending on what and who you go with :)

NickTurnon 11-28-2012 10:55 AM

I know of gloss wraps that look almost identical to paint that cost $1200-1500 for our cars. Check into that...

VCuomo 11-30-2012 12:31 PM

Here's a thought: If you want a PW, buy a PW (not some other color).

BTW, I love my PG! :)

dP3NGU1N 11-30-2012 12:41 PM

PW is one of the most popular colors on the Z. It's hard to believe that you can't find one for just a little more than the PG.

Pintsize725 11-30-2012 01:06 PM

I vote for a matte PW wrap. It's actually pretty nice in person.

Kingbaby 11-30-2012 01:07 PM

wrap just in case you don't like it!

DarkJak 11-30-2012 05:15 PM

Just wait a bit longer until you can find one in the color you want. To ease the wait, splurge the money you woulda used for painting on track days and mods.

Rui Z 11-30-2012 05:26 PM

ONLY repaint if you are going for non-factory colors like Sunset Gold, Lime Green, or Hot Pink.

:iagree: or if it needs a respray........IMO wait for the colour you want.

leighspped 11-30-2012 10:04 PM

Why paint when you can use Vinyl

LMBmikeZ 11-30-2012 11:23 PM

Preference :ugh2: some want to detail and wax the vehicle like me! Gives the colour a much deeper colour and shine! Vinyl is a bit more maintenance free but doesn't look as good IMO

i am going to get a white or black (not sure yet) 370 soon. and i were to keep the car for a long time, say 10 years down the road i want to get repainted (the same color)...

1. will it look the same as factory, or at least very close to it?

2. it will cost today (before inflation) 8-10k?

1 - yes it will very close to it, if not better depending on the shop you have do it. It also depends on if you chose a factory colour. Some guys like to change it a bit say you like a different cars black over the black Nissan has you could very easily change the colour because they are very similar, but if you were say trying to go red after being black then it would be more because much more work would be needed to get everything that colour.

2 - It will not cost 8-10k to respray the car the same colour (OEM or another car makes colour) the base is already there for them to work on top of. The 8-10k is if you were going with a change in colour like black Z to a red or white Z, or if it was a crazy custom colour like green etc..... there's a lot more work involved to complete change a vehicles colour and it will hurt the resale value to when the colour is completely changed for another.

Hope that somewhat helped :ugh2:

yes thank you very much. the idea i have is more from my step dad. he has had a 78' corvette and 2002 viper that he has kept in pretty pristine condition, even repainting the vett. so the idea is to get the 370z and still have it look nice 10 years from now. i think its pretty feasible, for example replacing the leather seats down the road when needed also one day.

thanks again.

homeryansta 12-02-2012 01:26 PM

buying a new car and painting it another oem color that is available for the same car is plain stupid. Especially when the car is NOT that rare.

Minsu 12-02-2012 07:16 PM

If done properly, this is correct. Also bear in mind that changing your car's original color will devalue it.

im 99.98% sure i would never want to change the color. just get it back to looking new if i were to keep the car 10-20 years, but the same color though.
