Z-Hydro is an amazing new demo car for 2010, presented by Marangoni Car Tyres, which is the Marangoni Group’s Business unit that produces and sells new car tyres strictly “Made in Italy”.
Starting from a new Nissan 370Z, the Z-Hydro has been transformed by TRC Italia with creative developments to bodywork, engine, braking system, suspensions and interior. The real news is the innovative Hydro kit which allows a saving in petrol consumption and emissions without any loss of power! Marangoni decided to showcase their unique ultra high performance 20” concept tyre, “M Power - Blue” on this magnificent sporting interpretation. As with all great concepts, the core DNA of this spectacular design will make it in to production in early 2010. Yet the Marangoni 2010 show car, adds the Italian manufacturer, is not however just about design, style and power – it is also a “demonstration of technological advancement and ecology”. Marangoni continues that the main technological advancement within the tyre and the inspiration for the Z-HYDRO name is the inclusion of a process that produces a gas called HHO or ‘oxyhydrogen’, and uses an “energy from water” supply kit. This technology works in symbiosis with the car’s original engine and, says Marangoni, minimises harmful emissions – specifically unburned hydrocarbons, which are practically eliminated. Yet that’s not all – oxyhydrogen, reports Marangoni, also significantly decreases the vehicle’s fuel consumption without compromising on engine power. Amazingly this system is said to rely upon one basic raw material…. Water. Marangoni describes the Z-HYDRO as an “almost total reworking of the car”, and reports that TRC Italia has made “substantial changes” to the body, engine, interiors, braking system and trim. Of course, for the Italian tyre maker the big news is the Hydro supply kit that independently produces HHO and “works in perfect symbiosis” with the original engine. The HHO created is injected by the system into the engine’s intake and is said to bring about a drastic reduction in HC, unburned hydrocarbons and harmful emissions in general – all while delivering the said significant improvements in fuel consumption. In trials coordinated by TRC Italia, the vehicle’s original horsepower was reportedly maintained. System designed Lorenzo Errico believes that subsequent developments will lead to a considerable increase in horsepower. |

A hydrogen explosion is actually safer than a gasoline explosion - hydrogen burns extremely quickly, whereas gasoline is a relatively slow burning fuel (the slow burning causes much more damage).

![]() From what I can tell is Hydrogen is basically I high power density medium - you can get a lot of power in a small area. There is so much energy available on earth - its just a matter of gathering it up to use it. Electric cars will be the future and when we figure out how to increase the range our beloved gas guzzlers will be relegated to the museums or electric conversions. Anyhow I'm mumbling - the point is it takes so much energy to get raw hydrogen that its really not viable at this point in time. We need to get to work to harness all the free energy that's available but that requires spending the money on the infrastructure, etc. Once we have that in place then we can convert the energy into other forms.

There seem to be a couple of misconceptions in this thread...
1) The car does not run on Hydrogen. It runs on regular petrol/gasoline. It uses a hydrogen booster that converts water on-demand to a hydrogen/Oxygen gas mixture that is injected into the intake that catalyses the burn increasing the amount of fuel combusted. This increases efficiency. Another company doing a lot of work in this area is Ronn Motors The Limited Edition Scorpion HX? 2) There is overwhelming anecdotal evidence of "water-power" being feasible Inefficiencies of electrolysis is one of the reasons that hydro-boosters are used rather than trying to fuel the car entirely on hydrogen... But there are those that have allegedly discovered more efficient means using electrical pulses that "fracture" the molecular bonds reportedly by amplifying the resonation of the molecules until they separate. Google people like Stan Meyer and Denny Klien to find out more. Meyer's design of the 90s successfully produced enough Hydrogen on demand to entirely power a car. He was repeatedly refused a patent on the grounds that it broke laws of physics until he took the device into the patent office and switched it on. The patent was issued. His device is covered in this 1990s episode of respected British science programme Equinox: Stan Meyer - It Runs On Water ( Full ) Hydrogen Oxygen ( HHO ) - Zero Point Energy Meyer miniaturised his device into a prototype that could be fitted to most road cars. He died months before taking it from prototype to production, soon after he had alleged that he had refused billions offered by oil consortiums for his design. Conspiracy theories are rife of course... I prefer to stick to the facts rather than speculate on any unproven relationships between events and his untimely death. Meyer was very untrusting and highly secretive, no one was able to reproduce his results because no one knew all the details of the design. A growing community is getting closer to achieving the same results since his patent expired. Most of those oxyhydrogen claims turned out to be bogus scams and pseudoscience. There are cars that legitimately run on water, but the water is split into hydrogen and oxygen separately in a factory, and then hydrogen is loaded into a tank on the car. No one has yet to make a system that processes water on board the car. Besides, like i said, in the end it takes more energy to split the water than what is recovered during combustion, which means its cheaper and more environmentally friendly to just keep pumping old school dinosaur droppings into the engine, than this fancy water thing.
