Simple, not too expensive mods

So I'm looking at doing a few things to the car. Had an 07 350 base which was a lot of fun before grabbing the '12 370z touring with the sports package. Love this car but it definitely needs to be a little faster. Thinking about going with stillens long tube intake and their exhaust. Also open to other little things that might help give the car a little more pep

STILLEN : STILLEN Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake Kit

STILLEN : STILLEN 370Z Dual Exhaust System

Any ideas?

Anyone have stillen parts?

Thanks, -Steve

High Flow Cats or Test Pipes

Add HFCs to your list. Best bang for the buck IMO.

diddy535 11-23-2012 03:26 PM

The gen 3s are awesome, can't go wrong with those. HFCs like mentioned are also a great addition. Catback exhausts are a little more subjective in preference and the prices vary. There's a bunch of threads around re exhaust tones, check some out and see what you like.

And welcome!

Does anybody know what the db rating is on the stillen cbe?

NickTurnon 11-23-2012 04:29 PM

I have heard them before.. Not too loud. A little too quiet for my tastes. But if i had to guess.. 90DB? Haha..

I think my short tails are at like 120DB at WOT. & Thats without TP's!

120 is plenty loud and if your ears are about 2-5 feet from the pipes. That's the spl where you begin noise induced hearing loss.

icedog2g 11-23-2012 04:46 PM

Stillen CBE is not that loud with just the exhaust itself, its more like the car should've came with Stillen CBE sound wise but add the intake and it can be a little louder especially at WOT.

Thanks im thinking of going this set up to. Do to I don’t want to wait the weeks out for the FI. They are strict here in California when it comes to noise level on cars especially imports.

TP's and muffler deletes do not sound good at all IMO!

Better off to do one or the other TP's and CBE sound good or the muffler delete by it self sounds good but not both TP's and muffler deletes sounds terrible IMO!

Thanks for all the input. I'll be adding slowly, but will be sure to post some pics and videos whenever I do.

Thanks, -Steve

Stillen is very focused on making sure all of its products meet the various CARB and noise compliance regulations. Their exhaust will be one of the most well mannered exhausts on the market while staying legal with inspections....if you live in California.

WAYYYY TOO LOUD. Thats why i'd consider HFC's but never TP's with these short tails...

Someone else did em

red6spd 11-24-2012 10:35 AM

Go with the intake pass on the their exhaust. The Gen 3 is one of best on the market but the Stillen exhaust is way to quiet for most and I have heard alot of stories of fitment issues. Does stillen still use slip joints on the exhaust with U-Bolts?

axmea? 11-24-2012 07:20 PM

^^ Hey red6spd, I can tell you car's loud. Any vids?

Stevasis 11-28-2012 06:26 PM

Love your front clip. What is it and where did you get it?

Underdrive pulleys... $180!

LMBmikeZ 11-28-2012 09:19 PM

tonythetiger 11-28-2012 10:01 PM

i thought pulleys were bad for our cars?

Jordo! 11-28-2012 11:06 PM

Nismo take off exhaust, test pipes (resonated unless you don't mind rasp), Cobb (or similar) smooth tubes, K&N (or similar) high flow panel filters.

You can get all of that for around (or under) a grand, and will pick up a solid 20+ whp/wtq.

I would never put an undampened pulley on any DD engine, especially one that redlines over 7K. The effect of undampened harmonics can be relatively harmless or utterly catastrophic -- why take the chance?

Under drive pullies can be a pain....I did some research on them cause I was thinking about going that route myself. They're ment for high rev and can be problemantic with daily driving. but it does offer a big hp gain.

edub370 11-29-2012 08:40 AM

ya idk why anyone gets pulleys to gain 5 freakin hp and shorten their engine life

:iagree:........the original thread just like this one

SS_Firehawk 11-29-2012 01:24 PM

Idk, I like my pulley's. 7k miles. Not additional vibrations, improved mileage, revs faster, and gained 7-10whp throughout the rpm range. Worth every penny in my personal opinion, but this is a continuing argument on this forum so I won't go further.
