It's really just buy what you want. Besides, the automatic tranny itself adds weight, and it's also more than likely unable to fully release the horsepower, because of the way that manuals are directly connected to the engine whereas automatics "coast," which is the result of a not perfectly connected system.

People who live in traffic or get caught up in it. Manual is fun, but not when you're in gridlock moving inches a minute. Even with the nice clutch the Z has, even most hardcore manual tranny drivers are gonna get pretty damn sick and tired of constantly doing 1st gear starts.

I had to get the 6spd MT for my car, driving a sport car that's not manual lowers the fun factor for me.
If all you care about is speed for the moneys worth, why are you even looking for a 370z. I'm sure there are other cars out there new or used that are faster than the Z for around the same price. I bought the car for the fun factor, style, and driving experience not Quarter mile and freeway races. There's an 04 SL55 down the street selling for 32K and a 93 Viper for 27K on craigslist right now. I suggest you check those out. If you want new go buy yourself a camero |

Simple answer: Not everyone buys this car for the track.
Personally, I wouldn't drive the auto. That's too boring for me. Even with paddle shifters, it's still too boring. And the sport package is a good value, so you can add that on for me. And the touring is more comfortable with heated seats and Navi. If I were going to build "the fastest straight line car possible", the Z wouldn't be my base platform in the first place.

Crash, in case you don't know, this idiot has been trolling ... just look around for the "crashed the Z on test drive" and "auto comes with paddle shifters."

Camaro's in general are fine cars. The statement you just made has lowered your status even further. I bet you don't even know what open wheel racing means without googling it. Oh wait, you'd never find out, because you can't google either.
To each his own. Seems like a workout! My friend's clutch pedal is a freaking rusted pedal (not really, but it's hard clutch to the max).

Remember that we just ask people's opinions, and the Camaro is a fine car to drive, not necessarily take to a track. It looks sick ... sharp angles, has the classic muscle car era look, yet is futuristic. Not everyone here looks to take corners at 50 mph.

but I would say it depends on your clutch, I drove a friends 3000gt with one of the stiffest clutches ever and I could barely drive that around town without my leg getting soar. |
