That would definitely come in handy. Although, clutch line failing is just negligence in road use. Maybe if you were racing...

yes this is a forgotten skill within modern day manual drivers. Although failing clutch lines are highly unlikely, it is always good to know .. just in case :P

You can always hoof it and push the car.... hahahhaha
A good workout for da thighs, hahaha

GreenJalapeno 07-06-2009 02:29 AM

yea, up until you hit a 1% grade or more. hahaa

370Z Purist 07-06-2009 02:35 AM

Oh man... I just tried to push the Z up a small grade, my driveway. Just for fun. Took 3 guys to get it rolling, and to keep it rolling, two guys. I'd never want to die of a bad clutch line. Maybe I'll learn this perfect shifting so I can show off if I want. ::D:

GreenJalapeno 07-06-2009 02:38 AM

hahahahah practice it in another car first please :D

370Z Purist 07-06-2009 02:39 AM

Definitely a good idea. ... yeah, definitely. LOL

Perfect shifting is pointless, IMO.

There's a clutch for a reason. And the clutch gives you more control.

I power shift when I'm racing. I haven't broken anything yet. But who knows? I may break something at some point. I'm pretty hard on the trans and diff. Power shifting or not, I'm pretty brutal on the shifter. I pretty much shift like the car is disposable. :D

maybe you should try perfect shifting? :P Its actually pretty easy.. you shift without pushing the clutch in. No grinding, no problems (if you do it right that is)

What's up with the face painting? Is it part of the "Perfect Shifting"?

GreenJalapeno 07-06-2009 05:10 AM

Ah there's a built in rev limiter anyhow ;)

NXTAZEE I've noticed you are spending an awful lot of time on the forums - isn't that against what your therapist recommended?

Yes, and I will give you a free polish if you keep it on the QT ;).

Sounds like bad shifting in general, like flatfoot shifting (same thing?)... but it is possible, although without a strong clutch or tranny (or both), something might break. If not those two, possibly a torque sensing diff or a bad driveshaft, even the connections, could break. But that also means in a car with high torque curves (linear like our Zs), you can basically chirp the tires constantly up to 2nd or 3rd gear. Pretty insane.

It's actually an advertised feature of the turbocharged Cobalts and HHRs. It keeps the turbo spooled up between shifts. I think it basically amounts to a secondary rev limiter.

Just granny shift it...
