Need opinion
So I was thinking about trading my base model370 for grand touring/sports but dealer is asking 12k should I do it or just spend 12 in upgrading my base model can I get sum input on wat u guys think
|
12K!?! That's nuts. How many miles are on your current Z?
|
200
|
12k? O___O!
|
hmmmm so wat do u think?
|
I think what you are saying is the dealer wants your trade + 12K to buy a touring model. That would be a terrible deal and a waste of money.
For 12K you could put new wheels and tires on. Replace your seats, and probably even put in a nice sound system with navigation. |
yup thats wat im trying to say 12+ my car to trade for a tour/sportpackage. but like u said ur right i can do all those for less than 12. but im just seeing wat ppl think also. i wish i had snco rev match only think i really want. but i guess its not a big deal not to have it.
|
by any chance would u know anyweb site that sell 370z stuff like exhaust and intake etc etc... i tried googling but i only get forums and not stores. and also a good website for rims and tire.
|
all you gotta do is get the wheels, spoiler, and breaks and you have what you want. forget about the nav and all that crap. this is race car, not luxury car.

^Don't listen to him. Never. This guy is bragging on this forum that he's some specialized race driver and crashed a Z. At best he's just a troll/liar. Yeah, SRM is just integrated, that's the only thing you can't replace by getting better aftermarket parts. You'll just have to learn to heel toe! It's a good skill to know anyway. Stillen has always been very good with Nissan, and because they specialize specifically in Nissans and few other makes, they'll often get the best fits, most gains, and best customer support, versus going, say, HKS, and having to deal with people that only help with relations and returns. Even technical support would have a hard time since HKS works with almost every car make and model. You could go IMPUL, since they specialize in Nissans and Nissans only. However, they're just expensive, but you can be sure of quality. I don't think you'll get much in the way of customer support since I don't think they have a North America branch. You'll just have to work with a Nissan shop. Rims/wheels you just have to find. There's thousands of designs, all of which you could fit onto a Z (within reason). If you want a start, a lot of people here are going into Rays Engineering wheels, like their Gram Lights, or especially the VOLKs. Tires you also have to as well. Yokohama, Bridgestone, Pirelli, etc., there are a lot. The sports package Z comes with Bridgestone Potenza tires (pretty good), I think the NISMO Z comes with Yokohama Advans. I forget what the non-sports Z comes with. You can always just ask, we're happy to help! |
i could have sworn i read about someone adding the srm by buying the parts and just putting it in himself

yea i was looking to get a stillen exhaust and intake wat r they running for? i found this site but not sure if there legit. throw website names to me. o yea thanks for everyones opinion ill just take 12g and put it in the car instead of upgrading to tour/sport package.
|
o yea will stillen intake void warrenty and is it carb legal
|
Well, warranty is relative. Someone did mention this before, so sorry for the plagiarism.
On warranty, if you put in a new exhaust, then this exhaust was not properly installed and caused leaks and other issues, maybe a clog or a leak melted some components, it's not covered under warranty. Then consider if you got that exhaust, and suddenly, your headlights blow. You're probably covered. I believe that Stillen has carb-legal products. Stillen Performance is actually a the370z.com licensed vendor, so if you search around, you can find actual customer reps on the forum. Head down to the licensed vendor forum area. Because of the fact the forum is still small, you can talk to them about special pricing. It's what makes this site so great. |

200 Miles on the ODO and he wants 12k + the car... That's robbery IMO.
You can get everything in the sport touring (except SRM trans) for WAY less than that. After market wheels, big brakes, tires, and Navi is about 8K and you'll be able to get stuff better than the OEM stuff for that price. Don't do the deal. Not worth it. |
hey on our tires do they have tire pressure sensor? i never owned a z and last car i owned was a scion and gto. the scion had sensors which when i had to change the rim i had to get them installed on the new rims.

if i buy aftermarket wheels and take it to firestone will they know how to transfer the tpm?
|
screw that...
spend the 12k on something else.. well that's what I'd do... with 12k you can do alot... new wheels with tires, most bolt ons.. etc.. |
12K is way too low. Dont trade it!
|
12k = turbo kit installed + new wheels and maybe + brakes.

Not surprising that they would.

Some people have more money than common sense. :shakes head: I think he should let Nurburgring test drive his car and collect the insurance and buy the Touring Sport with that!! |
:o)

The difference I pay to upgrade is 12 not my car value
|
He's basically telling you to bend over

Or yelling at him to go faster, whatever the twisted mind of the rep wants. |
Only 200 miles on the car ? Really ? Why didn't you just buy the touring model to begin with ? Sorry, I had to ask ..... at this point it's too late. buyers remorse is a horrible thing. I would think that 12k would buy you a lot of upgrades. I think that stillen has been around for quite a while, not just for Nissan products, but I'm not the expert here. But again, 12k would buy wheels, aftermarket nav, stereo, some performance goodies. I would think that with only 200 miles you are much better off just fixing up the car you have.

Wait a minute, guys. Give the knee jerk reactions a rest and do the math. Is this really that unreasonable a deal? A base model is what? $30k? He wants a sport with touring. Don't know if he wants nav or not. If not, then we're talking around $38k, right? If he does, then more like $41k? So there's an $11k delta right there. Plus, his base model depreciated the moment he drove it off the lot. So if my numbers are right, then this dealer is basically letting him return his car for a $1k hit on depreciation and swap it for the car he really wants. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I'd do it if I were him. But it's not "nuts," and it's not "robbery." Given the price points, I don't think this dealer is trying to make him "bend over." Now, if my numbers are off, then someone please correct me, because obviously my opinion is based on my understanding of the numbers and price points.
|
you forgot tax, doc, and licensing fees :D
|
It's Hawaii so I'm sure the car doesn't have the Nav. But yeah the $12K figure is close with Hawaii's 4.7% tax + the salesman adding a little profit.
Special K if you're serious I'm sure you can contact some of the shops here on Oahu, tell them your intent and see what bids/estimates they give. |
One other point: the Sport/Touring will have much higher resale value than a Base model with 12K in mods.
I'm not saying it's worth the trade, but it needed to be pointed out. If you're going to keep the car for a long time, I'd put the 12K into mods and be happy. However, since you're already looking to sell the first one after 200 miles, resale value may be important to you. The whole thing is an absolute killer on sales tax, license, etc. though. Not to rub it in, but you could have just burned 5-7K in a garbage can and kept yourself warm for a few hours  I say go mods and be happy. |
Yea I didn't do the deal I'm keeping base and I just ordered stollen exhaust anyone wanna help install when it arrives
