Very unlikely that you would get a new car out of this. Would you have thought of exchanging it for a new car had the part been there to begin with? At the most, your looking at what's reasonable for the hassle of waiting for the part. Everyone's talking like its bad car when really, it only has a bad part. Although it is a stretch, ask for an extended warranty like a few members suggested and press hard for it. If they won't budge and say that's too much, tell them you'll do a 25/75 split. Let hem know that the bad experience will result to a very bad service experience score for both Nissan and the dealership when your surveys arrive unless you get what you want. I'm telling you, those surveys mean a lot to them. Good luck.

soon enough he can lemon the car though like OP have said, just keep records of everything going on from start to finish and also look into your states lemon laws......

So a quick update... The ecu that the dealer thinks is bad is on back order still. BUT they have been given the ok to take parts out out of another car on the lot. So, we will see on very soon if the problem will be fixed or I'm in for more down time.... Will up date again soon I hope.... Steve

So it's been in the shop now for 4 days? If they pull from the lot, they're on the hook for the hassle of not having it ready for about 5 days or so.

Def go for extended warranty and oil changes. Ester oil is about $100 per service. For parts, I'd ask them to spring for the door sills & back up cam.

This one sounds like a lemon. New car is the only way I would be happy. They could use yours as a lease or something.
|
If it's just the ecu I wouldn't worry too much. If it's not do your best to get another one. If you ever sell the car it will have a history of problems from the start and people will be wary. It would be hard to get a new car because there is no way the dealer can sell your car again as new since it has already been registered to someone.

So this is the "fix" dealer called me last night they told me that after the ecu AND a new fuel injector had been installed it still was not fixed but GOOD news- "we found that a mouse had gotten under the hood and has damaged the wire harness for the injectors"
So now I need to call my insurance co. today to file a claim! sort of makes me feel better about the car,in that its not a mechanical problem....steve |

Too bad there is no way to show it was like that on delivery. Because you'll probably be screwed under warranty and screwed under insurance too. |
