recreational pot is a potential tax windfall for those states, allowing radar detectors is kinda the opposite, so will never happen.

Perhaps, VA could just issue a liscensing fee for folks who want ot get a radar detector, you pay an initial registration fee and then pay annually for the "privilige" of owning/using one after that. Anyone caught with an unlicensed radar detector pays big fine. Probably the only way something like that could work since it would be a revenue generator for the state, if the state can't make $$ on it, then it's a "bad" idea so if they can be convinced hat it can have a monetary benefit to them, they might go for it.

They denied that alligation for months in 2009 (or 2008) even to the press. VA residents called the BS flag that it was unconstitutional to confict anyone of the same crime 3 times. After a lot of investigation, Oh, suddenly we find out that the Fairfax court house needs 40 million in upgrades and one of the most expensive upgrades is the Traffic Ticket section- They pump people through there faster than McDonalds. Then the law was revoked and they had to pay people back the $ they had taken for a few years on the same conviction. They lied about it on TV and to its people. Dont get me wrong, I'm not against the VA state police or our local PD's. I just think I should be allowed to play by the same rules since their JOB is paid for and in respect to support me, the tax payer.
Ok, I just fell off my soapbox...I'm done.

As someone who thinks its unconstitutional to have to get a permit to carry concealed, I don't want to pay a licensing fee just to be able to use a radar detector.

this is a good idea. I think this is how the new HOV lane extension is going to work as well. If you are not an HOV car, you can pay to use it.

I believe in permits because it provides an educational process that all gun owners should have. Just not in the permit renewal which in my book is unjust taxation. That said. Va laws concerning radars are definitely unconstitutional.
if i were a Va resident? I'd put my hancock on that shyt.

I think the 2nd Amendment is my permit! I believe in firearms education but don't think it's government's place to force that on anyone. It should just be common sense IMO.

I want gov't out of as many facets of life as possible.

I disagree, you can't just jump in a car with no training and go driving around, it's dangerous. Similar issue imo, with firearms, no problems with folks owning/carrying weapons, but I really want those people to have as much training under their belt as possible.

As much as we may not like gov't involved in so many aspect of our lives, it's a fact taht as societies become more crowded, more complex, more specialization of labor etc, that by necessitly gov't needs to become more involved so that society can continue to exist in a relatively smooth fashion.

example: if you lived 200 years ago and grew most of your own food or personally knew the folks who you traded with to get the rest of your food, the FDA doesn't makes sense or is necessary. However, wih the rise of mass produced food, supermarkets etc (more complex civilization) there arises a need to ensure that the food supply is safe since it'snot a reasonable assumption that you can take care of that issue yourself anymore.

You can make similar arguemens for the EPA, etc etc.

The trick is to try and ensure that the laws/rules that the gov't enforce pass the common sense test so to speak and are fair and just for all levels of society and aren't overreaching in their authority.

Did you forget how many retards there are in this society? Fvck that sh1t, give them as much training as possible. Common sense isn't really that common these days.

I still don't want the government to restrict constitutional rights any more than they already do. Not too long before freedom of speech is a thing of the past.

BTW it's been a while since you pulled my trigger.
