Default 370z Performance Mods

Hello all,

I'm the proud owner of a 2009 370z. Love it so far! It is a 6 spd. manual. Any suggestions you guys would recommend as far as power mods would be appreciated. I don't think I want to touch the exhaust for now. Are aftermarket cold air intakes any good? Any suggestions? Chips? Turbos?

I would also like suggestions on the cosmetic look.

Did your Z come with that sport spoiler or did you install it yourself? Looks nice.
Usually everyone goes with the Stillen G3 Intakes. Fast Intentions for the exhaust. There is really no such thing as a chip for these cars. You would want to get the car tuned after you finish with all your bolt on parts. If you have a question PM me and ill be glad to help you. Happy modding!

Exhaust is the way to go, unleash the true sound it can produce and some nice gains as well depending which system you choose. Good luck!

It came with the spoiler. Thanks for the advice. I will look into the Intakes.

that's a good start...

let the mod bug bite you slowly...intakes enjoy the change in tone. Then maybe a nice shift knob a quality one. Enjoy the change in feel of going through the gears. Then maybe a nice cat-back. Re-learn the start exhuast note, enjoy the looks as you fly by on pedestrians. After that some wheels and a drop at the same time...one at a time is retarded....After that ponder FI....

all that should take a solid 1-2 years...

Don't wanna rush it, do everything and lose the love and feel of the car so quickly

I would check out the Exhaust/Intake section

Honestly, the Z is too quiet...was one thing that disappointed me. G35/G37s should not sound more aggressive lol.

I think you'd be happy with a quality exhaust and Stillen or Injen Intakes.

Yeah man look into the intakes they are a great starter mod. Like TheGreatOne said, Injen has nice intakes too. Get a nice cat back exhaust, and some intakes and you will be a happy camper performance wise. Then its off to suspension work and then probably a built motor and some forced induction

If you are really hardcore, go FI. GTM twin turbo FTW!

As for the look, drop your car first before you do anything else. A lowered stock car with proper setup(cambers, offset...) looks 10 times better than a pimped out ride with stock height. I had HKS Hipermax III and it's highly recommended. Tein Monoflex is good too.

Here is my take on the mods(in order)

Performence mods:
Bolt-on mods(for small gains)
Intakes(Stillen Gen 3) -> High Flow Cats/Test Pipes(Fast Intentions or Berks or MD) -> Catback Exhaust(Fast Intentions or HKS Hi-Power) -> After all these 3 bolt-on mods you need to correct your A/F ratio so have your car tuned and call it a day(UpRev).

Or screw the bolt-on mods just slap on a turbo kit with all associated mods for big gains.

Cosmetic mods:
Drop(I prefer coilovers. It's actually belongs to performence mods too) -> Wheels(DPE, Volks, Works, SSR...) -> Bodykits(Amuse) -> Headlights/Taillights if you like.

Like somebody else mentioned, do it slowly and don't go cheap on mods coz you will regret it. Good luck and have fun OP!

Congrats on the car but I have one problem. You don't want to touch the exhaust but your willing to spend $10k+ on a turbo setup? Anyway if you did a turbo setup you would have to change the exhaust. Your going to have to make a decision, spend $2-3k on boltons and a tune then sell almost all of it when you go turbo or save the money leave it stock and install a proper turbo setup.

here just read this link to a post I made almost a yr ago about cold air intakes and mods, it covers the pros on cons http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...-hp-gains.html

Probably the best mods you can really do that are worth while, is really anything for maintanance and reliabilty and suspension and braking , tires etc. As the car comes stock, it has more than enough power/speed for the street or track days.
