Lower back pain from cloth seats
After an hour driving on the cloth seats my lower back burns so bad and I'm only 25 yikes!! These seats suck I'm 50k miles in and travel a lot I don't know how my lower back lasted 3 years. Anyone have similar problems and solutions.

You should of got a G37 then brah
|
I agree with buddyZ. I'd say that the leather ones are comfier, but they're not. I've driven both.
A G37 is quite comfy though. |
I actually have spinal stenosis and disk degeneration on my L4/L5. I have pain all the time (bending/lifting) however I have gotten used to the pain. With being said, I have zero pain sitting in the cloth seats:tup:

Got pain under left thigh from the firm seat bolster. Shifted my weight over to the right a bit and I've been okay ever since. But, hey, I'm allowed, I'm an OldGuy (almost 65 and still enjoying my Z---simply at slower speeds)!

My back doesnt bother me, its my right butt cheek that aches in the seat after 3-4 hours

Get some Recaros

As dumb as this sounds, take your wallet out of your back pocket. You'd be amazed how having that back there will offset your spine and throw everything out of wack.

Also, check your seat height, the lumbar support does not move with the seat so raising and lowering the seat can have a huge effect on where the pressure goes on your back. I've have the seat at the very bottom so my head doesn't hit the ceiling. My back would like it a little higher but I've lived with worse. 3 hours without a stretch is about my limit on these seats. |

This is where, mustang, camaro, challenger and even naturally crappy vette seats win. The bolstering in those cars accommodates wider bodies than most Japanese and some European sports cars. |
Grab one of these and put it in the seat in the lumbar area.

I feel you on the back pain!
Not only do we get the jab in the middle of our backs when we push our heads against the headrest, but my butt hurts and lower back hurt after over an hr of driving.. The wallet helps, but i have an ultra thin credit card wallet, so its not a big difference. I heard that getting the clazzio seats helps with some of the cusion and comfort. For $250 they can customize the stitching and stuff.. http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...at-covers.html |
I get this pain after 1 hour of driving, and I've tried many seat configurations..

OP speaks the truth
if hes speaking of the base seats that come on the 370z they suck ***. It took me awhile to get the seat setup perfect so the lower back portion wasn't being affected. The roadster seats I would say are the best, they are firm as hell also but hug you and are designed better. If you hear all the reviews on the 370z they say across the board the seats are not good for long drives. |

As far as the G's alot of people complain about the sport seats being uncomfortable. I like them but many don't |

Now I assume the base doesn't have the lumbar support adjustment... Few solutions: Go to an upholsterer and have them add foam Go to a junkyard and buy a 1993 Volvo headrest insert (dad uses one of these, and damn it works well) Go to your local Office Depot or Staples or whatever and buy a lumbar support thing for office chairs Could try Amazon too I disagree that the 370 isn't comfortable I drove from Dallas to Los Angeles with my touring, and at no time did I have back pain... I think the 370 is UNBELIEVABLY comfortable compared to my ISF or 335, they're both quieter, but my back and *** hurts (no homo jokes, lol, shattered my tailbone in March) after 30 min in those cars. (I made the drive on my broken *** too, lol) The 370 is the 2nd most comfy car I own. 2001 Toyota Avalon is number one, and the 370 is tied for 2nd with my Lexus ES350! Lol |

the cloth seats hurt my back..... swapped to touring seats made a HUGE difference since it has the lumber support... now I have recaro pole position, no back pain!!
|
I remember when I had my Z that my lower back hurt really bad after awhile. Same in my G. I hated those seats
|
I too have a base + Sport. I'm 6'1" 180
Not sure if it's just how your seats are adjusted. I sit fairly straight up and down, recline my seat some when I'm driving long distances. I have done many many 4 hour drives between Waxhaw NC and Raleigh NC. Also drove 14 hours to St Louis and 14 hours back. Seats never gave me a problem. |

I take everything out of my pockets before getting in my car. that might help you. you could also get a lumbar support pillow? |

I have Sciatica on my left leg and I find that sitting on the cloth seats really hurts my left leg. It presses right on my Sciatic nerve and makes it hard to drive more than 30 minutes. I am a big guy, 6'4" 225 so that might be part of the issue. Anyone find a solution to make sitting in these cloth seats easier? I am thinking some kind of seat cushion might be in order, that will fit the seat. I tried a large office chair cushion and it helps, but it lifts me up like 3" inches. Need to find something that will fit the seat contours to help.

Im 6'5", found that the adjustment level of the horizontal part of the seat is VERY important for me.
Make sure it supports the underside of your thighs, next to the crook of your knee. This gets rid of some stress on your lower back. Source: Workplace ergo training. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk |
Leather seats make my arse hurt like mad after an hour, and yet I can ride a road race bicycle for 5 hours in perfect comfort. Figure that out? It's the seats ...great support for fast driving, but certainly not cushy.

Backs are as different as seats. I have some back issues, but when I first got the Z I noticed no problems. However, I soon learned that when I hit a major bump, my back lit up. After a bit, I figured it was due to the lack of lumbar support in the seat (cloth btw).
I tried a small lumbar support cushion and the difference was amazing. I may eventually go to a different seat to get built-in lumbar support, but aside from the mild embarrassment of having a seat cushion in the Z, the cushion is fine. When we took our two-week road trip in October, we drove several hours most days and 10 hours one day. I had no issues with the seat + cushion at all. My wife had no issues in the passenger seat. As with many Z "things" and with backs, YMMV. |
Memory foam back support pillow stuffed up the seat, an adjustable air bladder one would be nice to.
Did this in first week and it helps up until about the 3 hour trip point. http://i334.photobucket.com/albums/m...psiirauvfm.jpg |
OP you should get a lawsuit against nissan for your back hurting due to there seats, I did and won
