Yes, you did say you were venting. And I understand that you've encountered many issues already with the car...I'd be upset too. That's why I made my 2012 comment because many of the issues had been sorted out by then. The woman comment wasn't particularly for you actually.

Don't give up on Nissan just yet. Many of the Z issues would not have been uncovered during the developement and primary testing phases. We're all long term test drivers if you think about it. I know it's frustrating, but even Nasa and Lockheed f*** up sometimes.

Yeah that must have been me. Hahaha where were you? I think I did see a MB before the 405...I was really looking forward to driving home with the nice weather today.

Honda (S2000), Pontiac (solstice), Chrysler (crossfire), Saturn (sky)

save for the s2000(which is great) the other 3 are not great cars. the crossfire was the worst looking, feeling, performing thing to ever be called a "sports car" i have ever seen. s2000 bit the dust after a 6+ year run. honda is to blame for not carrying out that car. solstice and sky... meh... cheap little toy cars. miata-ish.

the s2000 is the only real sports car u mentioned there

S2000 is sweet.

But.. if you want GT car amenities in your convertible sports car its not a good choice.

Neither case is a problem unless you track the car...

I have friends with 370Z that drive their Z's hard - No fuel starvation issues, no overheating into limp mode issues. Their vehicles range from 09's thru '011 (mine), and we all go out, have fun, do some pretty spirited driving, and (knock on wood) none of us have had any of these issues come up.

My advice: If you plan on making the Z Race Track ready, then you need to upgrade your brakes, install an oil cooler, upgrade your sway bars, upgrade your springs, make sure your tires are competition grade, upgrade the fuel system so you do go into fuel starvation mode while racing with very low fuel in the tank...

Otherwise, for a Sports Car, the 370Z is fun, an eye catcher/head turner, and a pleasure to drive... worth every penny I spent on purchasing her and upgrading her into the toy she is now.

I am very happy and satisfied enormously with my purchase - Thanks NISSAN for a superior Sports Car, as the Z has been since the S30 took over the Car markets and changed the way Sports Cars are made, thought of, and loved by their owners.

Limp mode and fuel starve CAN happen on the street... depends on how hard you push it.

...At that point, would you be driving the 370Z as a Sports Car, or a Track Car, on the street?

A little too hard! About the only "acceptable" place on the street to push the car hard enough to get fuel starve is an isolated on/off ramp.

Another very happy Z owner here, 57k miles, perfect car. In 5 years when I'm much richer, I'll do an R8, maybe a cayman R, or GTR, but for my $37500 for a brand new 09 with all options, I couldn't be happier with the performance, quality, and value.

The oil temps issue is pretty much universally known so if you're looking to buy this car, you already know about it and have it planned for so that's not a big issue to me. You can't buy a car then complain about an easily fixable issue that you already knew about before buying the car. If you didn't know about it, then you really have done zero research and deserve it.

Let me correct you sir. The 2010 Z is the first car by Nissans that an oil temperature gauge and limp mode was installed. Limp mode comes on when the temperature hits 280 degrees. If you research these events you find owners complaining of high temperatures in hot weather, stuck in traffic, spirited driving and oh yeah track use. If you research this sir you find that Nissan's prototype vehicles were fitted with oil coolers and other modes so that the car would not go into to limp mode during testing. So they knew of the problem, but the early consumers did not, and Nissan did not provide options to add and oil cooler to 2010-11 models. In my original post I did not complain of owning a Z(I LOVE THIS CAR) I did not say I was experiencing any of the problems outlined in that post. I sympathized with Z owners that were having these problems and was just venting and hoping that none of these problems happens to my Z. let me reiterate, I LOVE THIS CAR.
