From what I understand, there is no difference power-wise or octane-wise between no-name gas and top-tier gas. Gas is gas and they all have to meet the same quality standards.

HOWEVER Top-tier gasoline will have much more (and better) detergents in it to help keep your fuel system clean and running better. That is why they cost more than the no-name brands. WITH THAT SAID Fifth Gear just did a test on last night's show (Wednesday nights on Velocity) that showed that Shell V-Power made around 4-5 more HP than other top-tier and no-name gasoline. Keep in mind this was Shell gas from Europe which is not the same stuff we get here. (I'm sure it's close, but it's not the same)

Did you know all gas is collected from the same refineries and just branded differently by the manufacturers.

Shell V-Power 99% of the time...every time I use any other fuel my mileage goes down on my regular trips...Less mileage, less efficiency..sluggish performance...Here in north Tampa area Shell V-power is only a few cents more if not par with other fuels.

I agree that gas is gas...it is refined and pumped around the country. The difference comes in how it is handled after it is branded and exposed to dirt and water at your neighborhood station. The storage tanks always have a certain amount of water condensation and dirt contamination. One can only hope that top tier gas receives better handling...but that may not always be the case.

93 here. As mentioned, gas is gas. It's the additives that make the difference in price.

I don't understand why some states insist on selling 91 and not 93. What possible benefit could it be to them?
