Questions about the Z
I currently drive an 04 G35 coupe and im in the market for a new 370. I have driven the 370 a few times and love it. However, I have been looking everywhere to try and find the height of the vehicle from the ground to the front chin spoiler.
The reason im looking is because my drive way is elevated and has a 4-8 inch lip at the front. My G goes up perfectly without any problems. I dont want to buy the car if its going to scrape every time I go up. I was just wondering if anyone knew the difference between the two cars in height.... Thanks |
Sorry not the greatest pic but here is my friend's '07 G35 beside my 370Z. I'd have to take the measuring tape to both of them. I really don't have to much grief at all - in fact I'm not worried about dropping it an inch - it probably better than my old 280ZX was.... I don't drag my rear pipes either... on top of that the front lip is abs plastic or something and very forgiving...

thanks for the pics. By looking at the pics it is easy to see that the 370 is lower than the G but its difficult to tell by how much. I also know the car is alot shorter than the G too. I dont know if that will make any difference.
I will probably have to try and pull it up at an angle.... |
You really shouldn't have any problems if you remove the black spoiler and thing infront of the wheels.
|
ya true but I really dont want to have to do that. Looks like I will just have to take one of the test drives home to put it to the test :rofl2:
|
My 370Z is lowered probably more than 1 inch. You just need to go up and down curbs and an extreme angle and you will be fine.
|
The 370z's minimum ground clearance is 4.84". I had a similar problem as well. We have a Jaguar XK convertible in the garage, with our high angled driveway. It BARELY makes it in (entering the driveway at an extreme angle), as its minimum clearance is 4.7". If that Jag can get in, the 370z has to be able to, too. Good luck with yours.

I just measured mine - its 5" at the lowest part of the black lip (which is only on the Sports IIRC) and the forward mud flaps are 3.5" but they are back quite a bit and while I have touched in a very steap driveway with the front lip the mud flaps didn't appear to touch....

hahah thanks for all the help!!!! I think if I do take a good angle I will be fine. Either that or Im just going to have to park in the street.
|
If you order the Sport package you receive an additional chin spoiler that makes it lower. On the 370Zs I have seen nearly everyone scrape the additional chin spoiler, and some owners have even reported pulling out the end piece of the additional spoiler (it has two tabs on each end that pop into place). I didn't install the additional chin spoiler as a standard parking bumper just barely clears when parking if you happen to misjudge how close you are to the parking bumper, and it will even catch a bit on some parking bumpers.

you really need to know the ground clearance and the distance from the low point to the front wheels to compare to the G. its the angle, not the actual height, or at least both that will be a factor. I would measure mine for you, but its lowered.
