June 2009 370Z sales reported.....

The North American Nissan sales can be found at Nissannews.com, but they do not break down Canadian sales.

I like less sales. Makes a car a bit more rare, and also means it will likely take longer for nissan to update the current model with a bigger engine or something.

True, but less sales also means Nissan will consider suggestions for improvement, less important.

Already have mine, so I don't care about them making improvements. In fact, it will only invoke my jealousy if next year's came out with an oil cooler or something

I am 1 of the happy 924. Besides, I like the fact I don't see my car every 2 blocks. The less I see the better. I guess I'm kind of selfish.

When entertaining a new Porsche Carrera (the dealership knows me) they were frank that Porsche is intentionally controlling production to hold values and to address the US economy. I see no reason why Nissan is not doing the same with the Z as it is a niche market vehicle. It makes no sense having to carry stock for both Nissan and their dealers.

Interesting concept. By Nissan cutting production, they create the illusion of demand. Quite possible, however we would need to see actual decreases in dealer inventory, and I'm not sure that is the case.

I don't want these 370's to be the "Camry's of sports cars." One day, when my life situation changes, I want to be able to sell this car like people do Supra MK IV's TT's! I seen Supra TT's sell for over $40K on eBay and the like, clean, pristine, mean and STOCK of course...no fast & furious ones w/ dragon graphics on the side...OK, I don't want to sell my 370 in the future, I want to be buried with it.

When I was looking for a Z in March/April, most Houston dealerships had (according to NissanUSA.com) 15-25 cars. I looked a few weeks ago and most had under 5, with a couple at about 8-10 (very larger dealerships). Now this is just one city to the rest of the US, but I do know Nissan said they were cutting production or estimates from 30,000 to 10,000, and with them just above 8,000 going into July, sounds like pretty good estimate.

Could sells be down because its getting harder and harder to find the combination of options that you want? People are having to wait if they want a certain car?

I do like not seeing them everywhere!

^^ actually whats happening is the dealerships are allotted an amount of cars so they make the orders, otherwise they wouldnt get any 370z's.

and so the biggest thing in mind when making those orders, is how cheap can you go and still have some options. in this economy they are trying to keep prices down.

NOW, with that said, it seems most people on here want more than just base w/ a option or two. touring/sport/nav seems to be a very popular combo but not too many dealerships ordered that car.

When I went into my latest dealership and asked about why they got what they did, thats the answer they gave me.

(this is my thought, i dont really know the true answer).

Have you noticed that dealerships have very few cars in stock to offer people? I think this explains the drop in sales. There just isn't much to choose from. When you get into this price point, many people want loaded models, and they are almost all gone.

That still isn't a lot of cars, and it may not be correct. Nissan's own website list my car as still being in stock and I bought it two months ago. There is another yellow one in my area that Nissan is listing as still in stock, and I know it was bought a week after I bought mine by another forum member. If Vehix is getting their numbers from Nissan then they are definitely wrong. I can tell you that right now in the Baltimore metro area there is not one touring/sport/nav in stock at any of the dozen or so dealers in town.

Doesn't the Nissan site ever update their inventory information? I mean your car still being listed two months after it was purchased, leads me to believe Nissan's data is close to worthless.
