I NEVER check it until the day I take it for service, I WANT there to be consumption issues and for the engine to blow... I got a full bumper to bumper warranty to 120k miles, might as well use it! Lol
EDIT: I paid $800 when I bought the car for Nissan's oil change plan to 120k miles, bought me 27 Nissan Ester Oil changes, so the dealer does them, it's not because I'm lazy, it's because $30/oil change is cheap, and the dealer can't complain that I don't do my service when THEY did my service, lol Last edited by DEpointfive0; 10-25-2012 at 01:18 PM. |

I remember checking the oil at 485 miles and needing a quart then at 1000, 1500. I was unhappy with Nissan thogh. If I had let my engine seize I'd of received a whole new engine instead of a short block that took 11 days to rebuild with my old heads.
10,000 miles later, I am under an oil consumption test as we speak.

Also, if you're in SoCal and need any recommendations on which dealer to take it to so they can hook it up and maybe help with the engine replacement, give me a shout, and/or if you need a ride anywhere or someone to call at corporate, I can help you with that too. LASTLY, call corporate, bitch and moan that just a regular mechanic did the engine rebuild (sorry bro, but 99% chance, just a regular not specialized mechanic did it, and I don't trust them with anything more than brake pad changes) But call them and tell them the car doesn't feel right, and since it had the oil consumption issue, your car has been devalued, MAKE SURE you keep telling them that (IMO it ADDS value), but Nissan has been known to issue checks ($$$ kind of checks) to owners who have had engine replacements, about $1000... And if you keep jabbing at them telling them it doesn't feel right, and it doesn't feel safe to drive they'll at least send out a master tech to test and check everything on your car |

I was wondering the same thing. I'm certainly no expert, but can't visualize how a bad plug could cause that much damage to a passenger engine - unless part of the plug fell into the cylinder. Can someone enlighten us?
