I started running this a week ago. I'm very satisfied so far. I've been playing around with creating my own dials. Here's my setup on a Samsung Galaxy2 7inch DSC_3903_1.JPG

What are you doing to stick your tablet onto your dash? Also, is anyone using the live log upload feature? If so, are you doing anything specific with the data?

I have a similar setup. Using the higher-end Kiwi BT adapter. Update rate is pretty quick.
my mounting setup basically consists of a piece of wood wrapped in dinoc with some 3m dual-lock (it's like velcro but hardcore). I have to reshape the mount a bit so that the tablet fits more flush but it's working for now. tablet is a htc flyer. 7'' wifi tethered to my galaxy nexus (which is on a car mount for power). using tasker to automate but running into a few glitches that i need to work out. |

Would you mind showing the actual mount that you've built? I'm trying to think of a good way to do this without using double sided tape/velco.

about a quarter of a second behind. it's fast. the more dials you have open, the longer they take to update- each one will pulse with a little green light as they update.
don't cheap out on the bluetooth adapter- that's the most important part when it comes to update rate. as far as the mount, no pics yet, its pretty ugly. basically its just a piece of wood mounted with a few screws through the bottom of the plastic and then wrapped with di-noc. even then, it's pretty ugly. luckily, it's either covered by the tablet via the dual-lock fastener or by the door which is secured the same way. |

Guys, is there an iOS version or similar app available? This definitely looks quite useful.

Torque is android only, but there's a similar app called "rev" for iphone. Not too sure of an ipad equivalent.

For anyone that isn't currently doing so, I highly recommend setting up Torque to send your logs to the torque webserver. It uses google maps to show your drive routes and overlays any/all data that you set it to record. This allows you to go back and see exactly what your car is doing on any given drive, insanely cool.
If anyone wants to set this up and runs into issues let me know, I should be able to walk you through the setup process (its not tough though)

I pulled the dash out, pulled the cubby box out and took the door off. Put a tablet protective cover (from Best buy, $40) on the face of the cubby box, wrapped vinyl around the box and mounted everything back in place. I thought I had something cool...and then I see cheshirecat. Damn, that's nice. I have Tasker running on the tablet (Samsung Galaxy 2 7inch). It customizes the sh!t out of your tablet and lets it basically automate itself. |

There's a number of hidden PIDs it would be useful to find for our cars. The ones that e.g. Nissan's dealership-only Consult-III tool or sometimes Cipher can see but default scanners like Torque can't. The big ones on my list: 7AT fluid temp from the TCM (used to set fill level properly - even Cipher doesn't have this last I checked), Oil Temp (it's in there somewhere...), and Brake Pedal Position (for track data logging. I've seen one proprietary data logger that can supposedly pull this from our car, so I think the PID is out there...).
I tried running TorqueScan, but honestly I've never let it run through its full range, just takes too damn long... |
