To make a long story short I did just that I drove to the dealer and test drove the G.

It was close enough for me, so I bought the G. Now to sell the Z.

They were giving $5000 off MSRP so I felt I got an ok deal.

They wanted MSRP for the vert's. They had two, no 6 spd's though. Talk about no trunk space with the top down... it was really tight.

Let me get this straight. You bought and own a Z. But, you decided to test drive a G37, and now you like it so much you bought it. Now, you want to sell the Z?

(Sounds like a collosal waist of the depreciation, the dealer probably loves you!)

Some people have the money, and having the right car is worth taking a little bit of a hit! Don't knock.

Agreed. I dont care how much money you have, that is just irresponsible IMHO.

I don't see how it's irresponsible. You have to spend some time with the car to know if you're really going to like it. He probably isn't taking a huge hit on his purchase, anyways.

So you lose a few grand on the deal but you end up with the right car for you. Big deal.

I am still in that time period where I think about possibly trading the Z in on something else because every now and then I'm not sure if it's the right car.

Its not irresponsible, DigitalMan can do whatever he wants if he has the money. We all bought $35K-$40K cars that will lose most of their worth in just a few years, so all of us are losing money on these cars.

You hit that squarely on the head. Cars are not investments. Anything over $15K can be considered "irresponsible".

I had a Jetta for only 6 months before I got rid of it. Couldn't stand the lack of power. I understand his decision and I applaud him for helping out the economy!

There's a possibility that we early owners of the 370Z are going to be in better shape than most.

Already the Nissan 60% production decrease of the Z is partly to blame for the efforts to find certain color + option combinations. Another few months, and a few models in the most popular colors may be close to sticker for used -- especially if the '10 models have a 2-3% price increase with only minor changes.

It has happened before. No guarantees!

I understand that completely, I was in the same situation with a Ford F-150. Bought it, had it for 6 months and absolutely hated it, just not for me. I sold it and bought a new 05 350Z. I think that happens to most car-people at one time or another.
