Dog in the back of your Z?
Does anyone know if the 370Z will fit a large dog (black lab) comfortably in the hatch??
The reason I ask is because I really want one BUT I take my dog around with me a lot. I've been considering more practical cars like the STI but I REALLY want a Z. Post pics if you got'em... kfanxbye |

I used to have a similar dog that I drove to a local dog park every weekend. The dog will almost definitely fit, the real question is whether it's a safe and/or good idea. My last car had some useless tiny rear seats, and I strapped the dog in back there with a harness that attaches to the seatbelt to keep the dog in place. Keeps them from jumping around the car and distracting you, and keeps the dog safer if you have to slam on the brakes (or if you have an accident).
You'd need to come up with something similar that hooked up to the cargo net hooks and/or the child safety seat hook thing in the rear to strap the dog down back there. Otherwise if it's a younger and/or less-calm dog it's going to try to jump up through the middle of the car into the front seat, and even if it is calm, if you slam on the brakes the dog is going to be painfully thrown into/over that metal bar behind the seats. |

You can fit a medium-sized dog back there without issue but I think it's unsafe.
The safest place for the dog would probably be in the passenger seat. Just lay some towels down and get a doggie seat belt.

My pembroke corgi loves it; it's like a doggy aquarium. People laugh when they spot him in the back. He can stand and walk around, but he has a lot less leg than a lab. Your lab should fit laying down. Just loop a strap to the cross brace to prevent the dog from flying into the cabin in an accident. The STI would be a far more friendly option though.

Shade? It's going to get very hot under that glass on a sunny day.

Well I think if youa re going to put your dog in the hatch you need to at least put some padding over the support bar.
But generally I don't think it's safe to have a dog back there. In a front impact he's flying into the cabin and out the front window.

Sorry, but that's just a bad idea. But try this. Put the fiance in the hatch and drive for an hour. Open the hatch. Now put the dog in the hatch and drive for an hour. Open the hatch. Keep the one that's excited to see you!!!!

I dunno about a 370z but I remember like 3 years ago I went on a cruise and one of the guys had a 350z with a dog strapped in the trunk. We were driving on a mountain road, so I dunno if the dog liked it.
