370z Nismo vs 370Z sport braking performance
60-0 braking
370z Nismo motor trend: 110 ft edmunds-inside line: 115 ft (Braking Rating: Poor) motorweek: 123 ft 370Z Sport motor trend: 106 ft edmunds-inside line: 108 ft (Braking Rating: Very Good) edmunds: 101 ft motor week: 119 ft multiple sources suggested that nismo took a little more effort to stop from 60-0. inside line said nismo pads felt wooden compared to 370z Sport. is braking performance on nismo affected by the stiffer chassis, suspension setup? Please advise if you have any idea! |
The brakes are the same. The only thing I can think of is the added weight of the NISMO vs. a base sport would cause the higher numbers.

The weight is higher on the Nismo. |

but doesn't the nismo come with wider and stickier tires?

Were those tests performed with both cars on the same day and on the same track? Otherwise the numbers are meaningless. Different track conditions, surfaces, drivers, etc... The variables need to be eliminated for comparison tests to make sense.
It's like comparing dyno numbers. Unless it was done back to back on the same day, they're not of much use. |
Edmunds insideline test results are from the same day back to back driving I believe. One question is that nismo is only ~30 pounds max heavier. Would that make a drastic difference? Seems more like suspensions but i could be wrong

Pads may not have been bedded in properly.
Tires may have been worn. My only other guesses. |
i wouldn't be surprised if they didnt take out the spare.... its 50lbs in the rear
|
so if I'm going to track the car twice a year (mild track) on my 2012 370z sport, do you think I need to upgrade the pads and brake fluid? :tiphat:
Max of 20 minute track times at Summit Point. Lots of threshhold breaking as well. |

I would HIGHLY recommend flushing the fluid after each track day as well. |
