For Datsun revival, Nissan gambles on $3,000 model
It is the car that baby boomers may remember as much for its compact chic as for its slogan ("Datsun, We Are Driven!"). Now, a new version of this storied brand may get more attention for something else: its price tag.

That can't be right. Riding mowers cost more than 3 grand.

"For that reason—and because Nissan has no interest in cannibalizing its existing sales—the company says Datsun cars won't be sold in the U.S. or other industrialized nations, at least not initially. In those markets, regulatory and safety issues alone would virtually eliminate the company's super low-pricing strategy. "If you go to the U.S., it's not going to end up being $3,000," Mr. Ghosn said."
Translation of Mr. Ghosen's words. We won't sell anything in the U.S. cheap cuz Americans have repeatedly proven to buy things not worth the money for status and gotta have it factor. The $3k car is about as equipped as a base versa and if we sell it there? The versa is as good as dead @ it's current pricing. Let them burn $9k extra on every vehicle they buy cuz they like spending money unnecessarily. Because of this. Datsun won't be sold till Infiniti hits exotic status, and nissan becomes a premium brand. |

Also, the US market will not buy a $3-5k car like what they are describing, you would be better off getting a bicycle. |

That's why they cant be sold in the US or Europe and can only be sold in developing countries not able to afford the same safety standards you and I do. :wtf2: |
