Trade in my 370z for a CRZ?

I'm picking up a 240z and I'm currently thinking about trading in my 370z for a CRZ as a daily.

Reasons for considering the CRZ:
1. Cheap (to buy and maintain)
2. Pretty fun for a gas saver
3. Don't need 2 fun cars (370z and 240z)
4. More room for my dog

What do you guys think?

I think you'd deeply regret it. There are much "funner" cars for the price of the CRZ, like a Turbo Veloster or Arbarth.

I think you're really going to miss it, then again if you're considering getting rid of it you much not be that much in love.

Unless you really need to cut costs, I'd stick with it.

I didn't find much to like after driving the CR-Z. Looks pretty, but it lacks anything that made the CR-X fun. Many better options, some already listed ^^

Notsud 13 10-01-2012 03:07 PM

Yea I'm just not a big fan of hyundais and fiats. I like the CRZ cause its a roomy little 2 seater that gets good gas mileage and is pretty fun to drive. I love my 370z, but I love the 240z more lol.

If you're going to drive something with great mileage and no balls, why not get something more practical?

Mt Tam I am 10-01-2012 03:09 PM

I was thinking you said BRZ, but no it was CRZ. Does CRZ stand for Crazy? Sorry.

I like the 240Z purchase.

lemon-fresh 10-01-2012 03:14 PM

get a s2000 instead.

Notsud 13 10-01-2012 03:14 PM

Thanks for all the input gents. The crz may not be the quickest, but its a fun little car to toss around. I don't really need something that's practical and I definitely don't need 5 seats.

Besides the volester and fiat, any other suggestions? Thought about getting a 135i, but I've read too many horror stories and I want to stick with something more reliable.

I love the s2000, but if do that, then I might as well keep my 370 lol. There's a brand new black crz 6MT for $21k at the Honda dealer near me.

why get rid of the Z to get another 2 seater with "good" gas mileage, if u drive the crap out of the CRZ to have fun and "whip around" or "toss around" you wont get good gas mileage, I guess I dont understand your logic?

OnefitZ 10-01-2012 03:21 PM

CRZ with swift springs, rear sway bar, and 205 tires is actually a pretty fun little car. I have one. It has no trouble keeping up in the curves, but the straights will leave you wanting more. The Jackson Racing SC is about $4500 for a complete plug and play kit that can be done over a saturday. MPG's are definitely nice too.

Oh and get the 6MT. The CVT will make you hate yourself.

I take mine on the local curvy roads on the weekends, give it a good thrashing, and still get 33 mpg easily. Full sport mode and going WOT every chance I get. It gets good gas mileage as long as you aren't driving like a lunatic.

Its not just about the gas mileage. I can beat on a Crz all day long and still get better gas mileage than a 370. Besides that, its a much cheaper car to daily drive. Cheaper insurance and cheaper maintenance costs. More money to fund my 240z with.

And I think its a waste of a 370z if I was just going to daily it.

Yup, this. Borrowed my buddys crz on Saturday while he drove my z around just for ***** and giggles. It doesn't have much power on paper, but it definitely isn't that boring to drive.

I'd rather get a Mazda3 for under 18k and have room for when I need it and still have a tossable car capable of 40mpg. But to each their own.

Oh yea I know what you mean, but the CRZ is a little more appealing to me.

If you do what I suggested to it, It's a great little car to have fun in.

Feel free to PM me with any question. I will say this though, Wait to see what the next year model is going to have if you're looking at buying new.

Rui Z 10-01-2012 03:54 PM

I'd rather get a Honda Fit. Cheaper, not much difference in mpg 27/33 vs 31/37, lighter, way more practical, and in my eyes better looking.

Notsud 13 10-01-2012 04:10 PM

Yea, I think I'll just keep my 370 for now, its not that bad on gas and my dog can still fit in it...for now lol (2 month old blue fawn pit). Stick with minor bolt ons and I'll go all out with my 240z.

The GTI could be an option for you as well? I love mine! Fun and practical in one.

MPG's aren't great though...if that's something your looking for?

As much as I wish it was, That wasn't a CRZ. lol

Mike 10-01-2012 05:56 PM

Don't do it. I had one for a year. It was fun for a few months, but its really a dog that can't get out of its own shadow. I wound up getting rid of it. There are lots of cars that can get you 40 on the highway.

Notsud 13 10-01-2012 06:27 PM

haha thanks for all the input guys. im keeping the 370z. im at the muffler shop getting my greddy catback and megan test pipes installed. someone asked me to post soundclips in another post so ill post some vids afterwards.

I thought it was the cutest lil car so i took a red one for a test drive. Coming from a CRX/Civic/GSR and so on I wouldnt call it fun 2 drive. Geared 2ward performance? NOT...but if I was lookin for a cute gas saver the CR-Z would make my top 3. Rather bland driving experience in my opinion. Everytime i see i dude in one i think wow he looks really gay. Its one of those cars like the paseo and 1-series bimmer that jus look like chick cars. But 2 each his own. With these gas prices im in my honda accord atleast days aweek.

bigdog1250 10-01-2012 06:38 PM

Good choice^

Just had to add these last few ideas - FR-s/BRZ, Gti as mentioned, but others to not be overlooked are the ford focus and fiesta. Both look decent and are kinda fun to drive believe it or not.

You'll love the Z with an exhaust - just make sure you have seat heaters as you'll prefer to drive around with the windows down now to enjoy that tone and you don't want to get cold :)

Notsud 13 10-01-2012 06:42 PM

haha california driver here, no need for seat warmers.

Yeah, my last car was an S2000. It's way more fun than a CRZ, but unfortunately gas mileage won't be as good. Very reliable and and overall fun car.

Telephone 10-01-2012 08:20 PM

Keep your 370z, sell the 240, and buy an old CRX.
Remove the passenger seat in the CRX and you have plenty of room for your dog.

Lug 10-01-2012 08:36 PM

Ford Focus ST rated 32 mgh hwy, handles like a dream, fairly quick, can carry some stuff.

If you can wait a few months, soon to be released Ford Fiesta ST, gets about 39 MPG, almost as quick as the Focus.

Notsud 13 10-01-2012 08:45 PM

Got the greddy ti-c and Megan test pipes installed. I'll make sound clips when I get a chance.

Winner, winner!!!

Get a clean body HF CRX and you'll be getting 50+ mpg. That's what I've been trying to find, but a clean one still goes for ~$5-6K

The CRZ looks like a damn cheese wedge, do you want to drive a cheese wedge? I don't.

UNKNOWN_370 10-02-2012 10:51 AM

For that kind of money first on my list would be:

1) Hyundai genesis coupe 2.0t R-spec
2)Mazdaspeed 3
3) VolkswagenGTi
4) scion/subie FR-S/BRZ
5) hyundai veloster turbo

Lets be honest here, sounds to me, you want to save money by lowering your car payments by trading your Z (which is 100% completely understandable) but when you are trying to hide your real decision by trying to compare the CRZ to the Z? Then I am not digging it. Get real bro!

Chupacabra 10-02-2012 11:02 AM

I traded my Z for a CRZ... and as people say... its not really worth it. I like the car for a daily driver but it is underpowered. It does have a nice interior.. but it will NOT put a smile on your face day in and out...

Now if you just want a DD, and have something else to give you the adrenaline check.. then by all means go for it.
