Sure you might not get the full performance of the engine, but as stated elsewhere on the previous page, the car has a knock sensor. It's purpose is to detect knock and retard ignition timing if present. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. On occasion, if i'm doing all interstate driving, i'll fill up half or 3/4 with 87, and alternate between the two during the trip.

Yes, there is knock detection in just about every modern car which helps to shift the timing map entirely upon detection but why rely on that if you don't have to - b |

Reading this from the Nissan Asist TSB:
Find a heavy block (nissan part #PA2390) Start vehicle. Place block on gas pedal. Allow vehicle to redline while in neutral until all gas is expended. Have vehicle towed to nearest Nissan Dealership and let them know what you have just done. |

Just to update the thread, I ran the car under 4k rpms with slow acceleration between gear changes and decided to fill up when my car had 1/3 of a tank left. Aside from the immediate improvement in engine idling and responsive acceleration, my car runs as good as new. Thanks for all the feedback
