FD s can get a bit quirky however if you shop around do your homework get a good one that doesnt spend time being repaired they are very rewarding :ughdance:

Very very nice pickup. The Spirits were some of my favorite cars on Forza 2. I'd love to drive one some day.

I believe the 2002 RX-7 Spirit R (i.e. Spirit of the "Rotary") were only produced for the Japanese market. But guess a few found their way to other RHD countries like OZ.

The last rotary that officially made it to our shores (Australia )was in 1998 at a price nearing $ 100,000 they sold a few .

Mazda continued making them till August 2002 my is a july manufactured car , so its one of the last line of production it was imported intu Australia and then bought by me :ughdance:

I dont believe Mazda or any other car manufacturer will ever release such a purpose built care ever , especially with a Rotary engine and twin turboes :tiphat:

The car was sold for 40,million yen when released in 2002 good low km examples still get around 36 - 38,million yen Today 7 YEARS AFTER THEY RELEASED THEM ;)

The FD will alway hold a special place in my heart. I was a proud owner of a '93 RX-7, bought new in '93 when they were first released in the US.

Those that say the RX-7 is unreliable have never owned a "stock" RX-7. Most of the trouble was caused by kids not knowing what they were doing trying to add more power, or even some who knew what they were doing, but pushed their mods too far.

My '93 RX-7 wasn't perfect, but was fairly trouble free 'till the day I sold it in '98. Mazda continued to enhance the car over the years, I'm sure the '02 models are far better reliability wise compared to the early year models.

Problem here in the US is all that's left are tired worn out '93-'95 examples. Most, if not almost all, have mods on 'em.

I'd love to own a pristine stock '99+ JDM RX-7. But they're just not legal here in the US. Sigh...
