I finally had enough
This is a difficult post for me. I have loved my Z for the last two years. However, the combination of noise and very hard ride have taken their toll. I have to use whatever car I own as my dd. So, for the last 20,000 miles (minus some great track days), the car has taken me to work, shopping, vacation, etc.
I made all the right mods (teflon/ss brake lines, oil cooler, racing brake fluid, etc.) and the car was amazing fun to drive, but just not to and from work. After reading here and doing a lot of soul searching, I traded my Z in for a Mustang GT 50, California edition. The numbers for this car are very close to the 370 (5 sec 0-60, 27mpg avg, turns like a Z). I figured that at least from a handling perspective it would be close. The car is only two days old, so I don't have any authoritive data. It's way quieter. The ride is more forgiving (but not soft by any means). It is much bigger and the seating position is easier on my old bones. I should be happy, but I'm not. I really loved my Z. No Ford will ever make me feel that way. I guess this is goodbye. I have loved my time on this forum and thanks for the patient and helpful advice I have gotten here. I will never forget the two years I had my 370Z. If I had the money, I would have kept it as my weekend and fun car. Oh well. Bob |
So you wanted to look like everyone else? Kidding. Somewhat. Good luck.
|
Congrats on the new car, Bob. Sorry to see you go :tiphat:

Enjoy the new ride

sad to see you give up on the Z. Very tough ride? What suspension did you have on it? The stock ride was great. Now the Nismo ride was very hard. I have Swifts and I love it. It is perfect.

Good luck I guess :ugh2: |
Good luck with your new ride.
I hope the improved ride comfort overcomes the glaring disparity in build quality, for you. For me? That disparity drove me out of a 2011 Camaro SS1 and into a 2012 Z. |
Seattle Lion
Good luck. Im lucky, my Z is a weekend car only plus with new Hankooks and after lining the hatch area , its really good in terms of the problems you mentioned. Have fun in the Stang. Rich

seattlelion, I was just visiting your wonderful state and logged over 800 miles in the rent a car. I understand why the noise & ride would bother you. A lot of your highways and streets have that rough surface which would make the Z a road echo chamber.
Enjoy your GT, it's a great car as I test drove 2 of them before deciding on the Z. Aloha! |
I've got a bone-stock '09 Z that I use as my DD, and I've never understood the noise or harsh ride complaints. And my bones are definitely not young!
Regardless, congrats and best wishes on your new ride! If I were to purchase a new car right now, it would be what you just bought. |
Pics of said Mustang? What year GT?

If you stick around and can't take the hate, there is a support group. :)
