Just wanted to let everybody know the car was picked up saturday with no parts. Our suppliers sent us bad resin so we had to trash those parts we made (not the molds, the carbon fiber parts only) and we had to get new resin. We just got a few samples of resin last week to try and see what would work best for us and so far it looks like we have exactly what we need. We are working on his parts and with in the next week (give or take a few days) we will be sending him parts starting with the CF roof, b pillars, front bumper overlay, and rear valence overlay.
Just an FYI because I dont want anybody getting the wrong ideas. Once he gets all the parts he will post pictures when he has a chance. We how ever will post pictures of the parts here at our shop but we cant control when he takes pictures. Bullitt wanted to get a good amount of parts on before he took pictures from what I was told. Stay tuned! |

I'm afraid, with this Resin Fiasco, that i've already gotten the wrong idea. You guys are making things I'm interested in buying, but it seems like it's the first time you've done all this. My advice is to shoot final shots of the products Only, to present your products in a finished form. No doubt you'll do lots of business here, but so far all I have is questions as to the real quality of your finished parts...

Dont be at all my friend! Before we did small honda parts and stuff like mouse pads and cup coasters where nobody wanted to pay anything so we used polyester resin that we had no doubt they would not last since they were small parts that barely touched heat. But now since we do much higher quality products for higher quality cars we switched to an epoxy system and with out testing anythign we thought the epoxy would work well because we were told it was amungst the highest quality. Turns out they found out that they were wrong and told us only after we made a few pieces. That is why we spent the next week and a half after that trying other epoxies. Right now we are using some that so far have been tested up to 300F and shows no signs of falling appart. Average sun temp gets to 140 - 153 at 90F weather.
Not only that we clear coat our parts with dupont automotive clear and guarantee all of our work for life Last edited by SpawnAeroJohn; 07-15-2009 at 08:12 PM. |

First of all, I wish you the best success.
All I think Steve was saying is that it might have been better to wait until you had the product ready to go before marketing it. However, I also really like seeing the development part too, and you guys showing that you won't put out a sub par product also means a lot. I've seen several vendors on other forums do similar stuff with upcoming products and then never follow through. They get a lot of interest up front, but then lose their rep and noone wants to deal with them when they finally do come through. CF isn't for me (well maybe the FI Exhaust, for the weight diff), but if after everything is said and done, you get it right, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from you.

Can you let us know how much of a weight difference this will be in the end?

This new week Ill be sending b pillars, front bumper license overlay, and a rear valence to bullitt. Then after we finish these 3 we will be making the roof. We have to finish the vented hood then show you guys, create the mold and then out of that mold make bullittes hood. And we are still looking for a local person to come down so we can create a mold of the reverse side of the hatch. We didnt have time to make both sides of the hatch mold ...
We are also finishing the spoiler prototype. |
